Expectations are high for Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in the upcoming NFL season. The quarterback’s 2022 player props suggest that his passing yards and passing touchdowns could increase significantly from last year.

Hurts has an over/under of 3,650.5 passing yards at DraftKings Sportsbook for the 2022 season. The third-year quarterback will have to throw for 23 scores in order to go over the total for his passing touchdown prop.

In his first season as Philadelphia’s full-time starter, Hurts had 3,144 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions in 15 games. Much of Hurts’ value came as a runner. His 784 rushing yards were the most among all quarterbacks. Only five running backs finished ahead of Hurts and his 10 rushing touchdowns.

The Eagles took steps to surround Hurts with better players in 2022. Philadelphia traded for A.J. Brown, giving Hurts the kind of wide receiver he lacked a season ago. DeVonta Smith could become one of the NFL’s most dangerous No. 2 receivers, following his 916-yard rookie campaign.

The 2021 season didn’t end on a high note for Hurts. He completed 53.5% of his passes and threw a pair of interceptions in a 31-15 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wild Card Weekend. It was an ugly defeat that raised questions about Hurts’ ability to start for a contender.

Let’s take a look at the odds for Hurts’ passing totals in the 2022 NFL season and the best bet for each prop.

How Many Passing Yards Will Jalen Hurts Have In 2022?

Under 3,650.5 Yards (-110, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Make sure to bet the under on Hurts’ prop for passing yards at DraftKings. because his total at other sportsbooks (3,450.5 yards at FanDuel, 3,599.5 yards at BetMGM) is lower. Hurts is going to run the ball a ton, so his ceiling isn’t much higher than 3,650 passing yards. After posting 139 carries last season, Hurts’ rushing prop bet has a total of 725.5 yards in 2022. All of his rushing attempts increase the chance that Hurts will get hurt. An ankle injury that required offseason surgery cost Hurt two games in 2021.

Hurts only had a pair of 300-yard games last season. They came in Philadelphia’s two worst defensive performances of the year, allowing the quarterback to pad his stats with the game out of hand. Hurts failed to throw for 200 yards in nine of his 15 starts, and he came short of 150 yards in more than 25% of his games.

Hurts’ 61.3% completion rate in 2021 was the second worst among quarterbacks who made at least 15 starts. There were 16 quarterbacks who had more than 3,650.5 passing yards last season, and they all completed at least 63.3% of their attempts. None of the 17 players who threw for more than 3,650.5 yards in 2020 completed fewer than 64.2% of their passes.

How Many Touchdown Passes Will Jalen Hurts Throw In 2022?

Over 22.5 TDs (-120, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Hurts can be a better quarterback in 2022 without a major increase in his total passing yards. He certainly got better as a passer from his first to his second season, raising both his passer rating and completion percentage by more than nine points. Expect a similar jump in Hurts’ touchdown total during his second year in head coach Nick Sirianni’s system. Russell Wilson (25 TDs) and Carson Wentz (27) ranked in the top 11 in touchdown passes last season while throwing for fewer than 3,650.5 yards.

Philadelphia has what it takes to put together one of the NFL’s top-scoring offenses. The Eagles arguably have the league’s best offensive line and one of the most-talented receiving corps. Whether Philadelphia is moving the ball through the air or on the ground, Hurts should have plenty of chances to get the Eagles into the end zone.

Hurts will get his share of rushing touchdowns, but he didn’t run for a score in two-thirds of his starts last season. Now that Hurts has a legitimate No. 1 receiver, a greater portion of Philadelphia’s red-zone trips will end with a touchdown pass. A.J. Brown has scored 20 touchdowns in his last 31 games.

How to Bet Jalen Hurts Props

Player prop bets aren’t only available for individual games. Sportsbooks allow bettors to wager on player totals for the entire season.

Once you’ve set up an account with a sportsbook that operates in your state and you’ve deposited money, you’re ready to bet on player futures. In the player props section, quarterbacks are given a passing yards total, along with odds for both the over and the under.

Jalen Hurts’ regular-season passing yards total, for example, is 3,650.5 yards. The over and the under both have -110 odds. When the odds have a minus sign, the number represents how much money you would have to risk in order to make $100 for a winning bet.

A winning $110 bet on Hurts to throw under 3,650.5 yards would result in a profit of $100. In total, $210 should be added to your account, including a $100 profit and the $110 you originally wagered. A winning $100 bet on Hurts’ under for passing yards would come with a $90.91 profit
