Brian Thomas Jr. A WR3 With Upside Against Bills

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. is a solid flex play on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills. The rookie receiver leads the team in receiving yards so far on a whopping 23.5 yards per catch, showing why he was a first round pick. His big-play ability is his greatest strength, a great skill for fantasy managers to look for in their flex receivers. Against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2, he led the team with 94 yards on just two receptions. He only has six catches so far, but that is tied for the team lead with Gabe Davis. The LSU product is more of a long-term asset than a short-term asset given his expected improvement as a rookie and the Jaguars early struggles on offense, but he's still a decent option to put into lineups in the short-term. The Bills aren't an amazing matchup but shoot for upside and start BTJ in Week 3.

Brenton Strange A Solid Replacement For Evan Engram Once Again

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange could be a solid play for fantasy managers in a pinch when he faces the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. With Evan Engram officially ruled out, the second-year tight end has a chance to improve on his three catch, 65 yard performance last week against the Cleveland Browns. Similar to the Browns, the Bills are better against the pass than the run, so Trevor Lawrence may not be asked to do too much, but at a weak fantasy position, managers can do much worse. It's not the greatest matchup for Strange, considering the Bills held stud tight end Trey McBride to just five catches for 30 yards in Week 1, but he has a decent chance of putting up at least a satisfactory performance for fantasy managers. Strange serves as a solid injury replacement in Week 3 despite the less than ideal matchup with the Bills.

Evan Engram Won't Play On Monday Night

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (hamstring) won't play on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills. The 30-year-old hasn't practiced all week after injuring his hamstring ahead of the Week 2 clash with the Browns, although the Jags are hopeful he will return for the team's next contest against the Houston Texans. As a result, Brenton Strange will likely fill the void in the lineup, with the 23-year-old coming off a three-catch, 65-yard outing versus Cleveland. However, that type of production won't be enough to earn Strange a spot in most fantasy lineups. The same can be said for Luke Farrell, the No. 3 tight end on the depth chart, who had two grabs for 12 yards in Week 2.

Evan Engram Misses Another Practice On Friday

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (hamstring) missed a second straight practice this week on Friday and appears to be trending toward missing a second straight game in Week 3 on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills. Engram injured his hamstring during pre-game warmups before the Week 2 loss to the Cleveland Browns. He will likely need to return to practice on Saturday to avoid being ruled out on the final injury report of the week. As of right now, fantasy managers should plan to be without the 30-year-old veteran. With Engram out last Sunday, Brenton Strange stepped up as the top pass-catching TE and played 68% of the offensive snaps, catching three of his six targets for 65 yards. The Bills defense has been vulnerable so far through two games to the TE position, but Strange will still be only a TE2 sleeper for fantasy lineups if Engram misses a second straight game.

Travis Etienne Jr. A Solid RB2 Once Again In Week 3

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. has two rushing touchdowns through two games, maintaining an RB2 status against the Buffalo Bills in Week 3. Etienne Jr. was drafted as a borderline RB1 but hasn't quite lived up to those standards. However, this Monday night matchup on the road is a potential bounce-back game for the Clemson product, given the Bills rank second worst against RBs in fantasy through two games. The passing defense has been great, but the run defense looked vulnerable against James Conner and De'Von Achane. The Jaguars offense overall has struggled, but Etienne Jr. has shown a high floor with his rushing touchdowns and solid volume. The Jaguars could emphasize the running game even more against the Bills, especially if Tank Bigsby returns from injury. The 25-year-old RB is still a good start despite not meeting expectations to start the season in what should be a plus matchup.
