Gillaspia was the Texans’ seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played 23 games with the team, getting waived last week with a “failed physical” designation.
Giants add FB, sign Cullen Gillaspia
Fantasy slant: Gillaspia has been primarily a special team asset during his time with Houston. His signing could be just the addition of another depth player, but Joe Judge proclaimed before last season that he wanted “an old-school, physical mentality.” The Giants then proceeded to rank 26th in rushing attempts. If Saquon Barkley is all systems go, it’ll be interesting to see if New York bumps up the rushing volume in 2021. — Derek Brown
