Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons

The Buccaneers are 2-6 in their last eight games, but they are still just one game back in the NFC South, and they have a chance to take out the division-leading Atlanta Falcons in Week 14. These two teams last met in Week 7, when the Falcons squeaked out a 16-13 victory thanks to a last-second field goal from Younghoe Koo.

In that contest, the Bucs moved the ball well through the air but struggled to get the ground game going against Atlanta’s 10th-ranked rush DVOA defense. That forced Tampa Bay to all but abandon the run, as Baker Mayfield aired it out 42 times for 275 yards. He’s not the only quarterback who has had success through the air against the Falcons though (29th in pass defense DVOA). In fact, every team since Week 7 has seen their QBs combine for at least 235 passing yards except the Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian-led Jets (214 yards).

With the Bucs continued struggles on the ground and the Falcons’ pass-funnel defense, I expect Mayfield to utilize all of his weapons to find success through the air.
