Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix heads into a Week 9 showdown on the road against the Baltimore Ravens after throwing for a season-high 284 yards and three touchdowns to take advantage of a cushy matchup versus the Carolina Panthers. Facing the Ravens on the road surely won't be an easy task, but Nix does line up for another plus matchup from a fantasy perspective, as Baltimore's struggling defense has allowed the third-most fantasy points to QBs in 2024 and the most passing yards per game (291.4). Nix and Denver's offense started the year off very slow and inconsistent, but they've found their footing as Nix continues to show improvement in his first year. The 24-year-old from Oregon is suddenly the QB10 in overall fantasy scoring after eight weeks and has thrown just one interception in the last six weeks after throwing four in his first two games in the league.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Devaughn Vele reeled in all three of his targets for 28 yards in his team's 28-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers. It was an acceptable performance for the rookie wideout as quarterback Bo Nix spread the ball around effectively -- completing a pass to 11 different Denver pass-catchers, with seven recording at least two targets. Fellow wideout Courtland Sutton was the only Broncos skill player to register more than six (11). While Vele likely wasn't counted on by fantasy managers, it's a disappointing effort against one of the league's least formidable defenses, particularly after he recorded 14 targets over his first two outings. The 26-year-old will get another opportunity to be more involved in Week 9 when he and the Broncos square off against the Baltimore Ravens on the road.

Denver Broncos running back Jaleel McLaughlin totaled 47 yards on his eight carries in the team's 28-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers. The second-year back added nine yards and a touchdown on his lone target. McLaughlin was again efficient with his touches, notching his third outing of the season with 5+ yards per carry and his second in as many weeks. The receiving touchdown was his second on the season and third total of the campaign -- one more than backfield mate Javonte Williams. He's been effective in his change-of-pace role in Denver's offense. The former undrafted free agent has a bit more juice than his counterpart; however, he's considerably more diminutive in stature than Williams. Standing three inches shorter (5-foot-7) and over 30 pounds lighter, he may never take over Denver's "thumper" role and likely won't garner standalone value unless the fourth-year back is forced to miss time. The Broncos will take on the Ravens next Sunday in Week 9.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin caught 1-of-2 targets for six yards in Sunday's 28-14 win over the Carolina Panthers, adding three yards on his lone carry. It appeared that the rookie wideouts usage was trending up over the last few weeks, and Sunday's outing against Carolina was an excellent spot for a breakout game against one of the league's worst defenses. However, WR1 Courtland Sutton totaled 100 yards on his eight receptions, and tight end Adam Trautman had a surprising performance as the team's second-leading receiver (4/85/1). Fantasy managers likely weren't relying on Franklin -- still, it would have been encouraging to see him more involved in the game plan. The Broncos will square off against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9, so perhaps the Oregon product sees more work in a more competitive matchup.

Denver Broncos tight end Adam Trautman hauled in all four of his targets for 85 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-14 win over the Carolina Panthers. Well, that came out of nowhere. Trautman entered Week 8 with just two catches and 32 yards on six targets through seven games, so it's certainly a surprise to see him end up as Denver's second-leading receiver on the day. Sunday marked the first time all season that the 27-year-old recorded more than one catch in an outing, and he out-targeted teammate Lucas Krull for the first time since Week 5. He'll need to string together a few more solid outings before we can trust him as a streaming candidate. Still, it was nice to see the former third-round pick get involved in the offense. Trautman and the Broncos will get a taller ask next Sunday in Week 9 when they hit the road to take on the Baltimore Ravens.
