Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram lauded his new quarterback, Bo Nix, last week in an interview with DNVR's Bennie Fowler. "He has everything that it takes to be great in this league," said Engram. The 30-year-old went on to praise Nix's dual-threat ability and noted that the team should continue to put talent around such a weapon. The Georgia native was fantastic in 2023 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, churning out an impressive 114 receptions. However, after being limited to nine games during an injury-plagued 2024, the team released him. Engram has an excellent chance to rebound with the Broncos in 2025 -- particularly as the joker in a Sean Payton offense bereft of weapons outside wideout Courtland Sutton. With Denver set to spend an early pick on running back in the draft later this month, the veteran tight end should provide solid TE1 numbers this season, barring health.

The Denver Broncos re-signed exclusive-rights free-agent tight end Lucas Krull to an undisclosed deal on Monday, according to KPRC's Aaron Wilson. Krull will return for a third season in Denver after catching a career-high 19 passes on 23 targets for 152 yards and no touchdowns in 13 regular-season games (two starts) in 2024. In his first year with the Broncos in 2023, the 26-year-old had only eight catches on 14 targets for 95 yards and his first career touchdown in seven games (two starts). Krull will remain well off the fantasy radar and will head to training camp this summer as tight end depth behind newcomer Evan Engram and Adam Trautman while competing with Nate Adkins. He debuted in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints in 2022 and didn't receive any targets in just one game played after going undrafted out of Pittsburgh.

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that new tight end Evan Engram fits the Joker role well. "I'm excited," Payton said. "The vision is pretty clear. Obviously we feel like he's someone who can run, gives us a passing threat on third down and in the red zone. He's got good body control and I think he's really good when he gets the ball in his hands. His run-after-catch numbers, statistically-wise, have been good." The 30-year-old former 23rd overall pick by the New York Giants in 2017 out of Mississippi had a career year in Jacksonville with 114 catches, 963 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games. He played in only nine games in 2024, though before needing surgery to fix a torn labrum in his left shoulder. However, as a likely high-volume target for quarterback Bo Nix, Engram will have clear bounce-back potential in fantasy and will be a nice low-end TE1 target with upside.

The Denver Broncos have reached a one-year agreement with former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Sam Ehlinger. FOX Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported the news, though the contract details have not been reported. Ehlinger had multiple offers, per Schultz, but chose the Broncos because he saw the best fit with head coach Sean Payton. The Texas product was a sixth-round pick for Indianapolis in 2021 and made just three starts over his four seasons with the team. In four appearances -- all in 2022 -- Ehlinger has 573 yards and a 3:3 TD:INT ratio with a 63.3% completion rate. He'll compete with incumbent backup Jarrett Stidham for the second-string quarterback role behind second-year sensation Bo Nix.

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton notes that there is "no timeline" on a new deal for veteran wide receiver Courtland Sutton. The 29-year-old will still be at the team's offseason program. Broncos general manager George Paton reported that any contract extension talks would occur after the draft. Sutton is entering the final year of a four-year contract and carries a cap hit of $20.2 million. He performed well last year with the expedited ascension of rookie QB Bo Nix, capping 1,000 yards (1,081) for the first time since 2019 and notching the highest reception total of his career (81). Whether the SMU alum will be as effective another year older in 2025 remains to be seen -- particularly for a player who doesn't get much separation. Still, Denver hasn't added much in terms of offensive weaponry besides tight end Evan Engram in free agency. Sutton should again be Nix's primary target, barring a big move in the draft.
