Fantasy Baseball Rankings 2025

VDP Top 500 Rankings

Updated: Saturday, January 20, 2025 (2:30 am ET), see rankings shift details below

  • ADP: Average Draft Position (through 11 NFBC DC drafts in January)
  • VDP: Vlad’s (Value) Draft Positions
  • DELTA: Difference between ADP and VDP (higher delta = better value)

ADP Data Disclaimer

It is difficult to capture accurate ADP data during this period of draft season.

To acquire accurate ADP data beyond pick 345 requires using Draft Champions (DC) ADP. DC ADP mostly consists of slow (extended) drafts with 2- or 4-hour pick times, which take approximately 2 weeks to complete. Hence, ADP can’t keep up with volatile risers and fallers.

Example: Massive ADP vs. VDP differences in Trevor Megill (increased) and Luke Weaver (decreased), as a result of the Devin Williams trade.

Once we get into January and February, when quick drafts and 12-team OCs are more frequent, the ADP data will be more agile and easier to assess against VDP rankings. Please reach out to me on FTN Discord private message if you have questions about specific players.

VDP Rankings Adjustments (January 20th)

Increased
  • Moved Jackson Merrill ahead of Trea Turner; slight bump on Acuna Jr.
  • Raisel Iglesias a few spots up, closer to the top-tier closers
  • Junior Caminero up a half-round (closer to Bellinger/Naylor/Walker)
  • Sonny Gray up 0.5 to 1 round (market/projections adjustment)
  • Steven Kwan moved up ahead of Happ/Corw-Armstrong (projections adjustment)
  • Pete Fairbanks/David Bednar up half-round (though trade/role risks remain)
  • 180-200 range, moved up half-round each: A.Wells, G.Moreno, V.Robles
  • 180-200 range, moved up nearly full round: S.Arrighetti, D.Rasmssen
  • Jesus Sanchez, Matt Wallner, Michael Conforto up 1 round
  • Up 2 rounds: TJ Friedl, Nathaniel Lowe, George Springer, Carlos Correa
  • Kenley Jansen (ADP 185) moved up from 270 to 219, expect he closes where lands
  • Cody Bradford up 1 round; elite control this late in drafts is rare
  • Clay Holmes up 2 rounds (after more digging in)
  • Brayan Bello up 1.5 rounds (challenged my bias and adjusted accordingly)
  • Joey Ortiz up 1 round (projection and SS eligibility expectation bump)
  • Blake Treinen up 1 round (counterintuitive, I know; call it a gut feel)
  • Isiah Kiner-Falefa up 20 spots (MPE and possible leadoff work)
  • Luisangel Acuna up 20 spots (don’t think Baty beats him out for 3B; though may platoon), the X-factor is Ronny Mauricio and his health
  • Gavin Lux up 25 spots (market adjustment), though he remains below ADP
  • Hayden Wesneski up 20 spots (feeling he earns rotation spot for OD)
  • Ryan O’Hearn moved up 2 rounds, closer to ADP. Worth it if middle-of-lineup vs. RHP
  • Jason Adam up 1 round – if Suarez gets traded, Adam and Estrada are next up

Decreased
  • Trea Turner pushed down a few spots based on Merrill and Jazz ahead of him now
  • Rafael Devers/Matt Olson after the top-tier closers
  • Yainer Diaz now right at ADP; Half-round reduction on Adley Rutschman
  • Though Cease and Nola’s ranks remain below ADP, their YoY consistency is an asset
  • Jordan Westburg (VDP: 104, ADP: 95) is not a ‘fade’; squeezed by the RP above him
  • Jared Jones/Jack Flaherty down 1/2 round (adjusting to market/ADP)
  • Flipped Bogaerts (up to 149) with Josh Lowe (down to 155); Lowe still > ADP
  • Colton Cowser down 1/2 round (still like him; BA risk remains)
  • Alec Burleson down (227 to 240), PT expectations adjustment (likely platoon)
  • Tanner Scott down 3 rounds (to 193 VDP); signing with Dodgers reduces saves upside
  • Porter Hodge down 3-4 rounds (220 VDP); strong rumors of ‘true closer’ signing
  • Michael Kopech down 2 rounds after the Tanner Scott signing
  • Jackson Holliday down a round, still a little ahead of ADP
  • Griffin Jax down 2 rounds (value spike would come if J.Duran got hurt long term)
  • DJ Herz down 1/2 round; still 2 rounds > ADP; market adjustment
  • Bobby Miller down 1 round (adjusted closer to his ADP)
  • Evan Phillips down 50 spots (less chance of earning save opps with T.Scott there)
  • Colby Thomas down 25 spots (concern about rookies with high K rates)
  • Noelvi Marte down 3 rounds (on the outside looking in with the Lux trade)
ADDED
  • Jorge Lopez, RP (Nationals)
  • Kyle Stowers, OF (Marlins)
  • Kris Bryant, UT (Rockies)
  • Jake Irvin, SP (Nationals)
  • Trevor Williams, SP (Nationals)
REMOVED
  • Esteury Ruiz, OF (Athletics)
  • Edouard Julien, 2B (Twins)
  • Gary Sanchez, C (Orioles)
  • Victor Caratini, C (Astros)
  • Justin Turner, 1B (Free Agent)
