2024 Team Stats

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski hit a solo home run to walk things off in the tenth inning of an 8-6 win over the Reds. This was a continuation of an already hot start to the season, as he's now slashing .344/.462/.594 with two home runs, six RBI, five runs, and two stolen bases. He is the strong side of a platoon in right field and gets few at-bats against lefties, which likely won't change anytime soon. Still, he is productive enough when he plays to be relevant in deep fantasy formats, such as NL-only.

Kansas City Royals outfielder Mark Canha was removed in the top of the sixth inning after colliding with the wall in an attempt to make a catch earlier in the game. He didn't exit the game immediately so the injury isn't likely to be extremely serious, but there's no indication yet on what the injury may be. The veteran is 5-for-17 on the season as the short side of a platoon, as he has historically been much more productive against lefties than righties.

The Boston Red Sox announced on Tuesday that they recalled catcher Blake Sabol and right-hander Josh Winckowski from Triple-A Worcester after they placed catcher Connor Wong (finger) on the 10-day injured list with a left fifth-finger fracture. The team also designated right-hander Robert Stock for assignment. With Wong on the shelf, the inexperienced Carlos Narvaez will move into Boston's starting catcher role, with Sabol backing him up. The former seventh-round pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2019 out of USC spent the last two years with the San Francisco Giants, hitting .243/.313/.392 with 13 home runs, 45 RBI and four stolen bases in 121 games played. Sabol also has the ability to play the outfield and first base, giving Boston some other options with him as a bat off the bench with Wong on the IL. He had gone 5-for-20 with two doubles and four RBI in his first six games with Worcester.

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing until Monday, according to manager Dave Roberts. It's just rest, though, and there is no planned medical intervention. An MRI exam on Snell's left shoulder recently only showed inflammation, which led the 32-year-old veteran southpaw to say that he was hoping for a minimal stay on the injured list. However, there's no current timetable for his return to L.A.'s starting rotation, and we won't have a better idea on when he might return until he resumes throwing. In the meantime, the Dodgers will roll with a six-man starting rotation that will now include left-hander Justin Wrobleski and right-hander Landon Knack. Of the two, Knack is the more attractive deep-league/DFS streamer when he makes his first start against the Nationals on Wednesday. Snell should be stashed in all fantasy formats.

San Francisco Giants pitching prospect Carson Seymour was named Pacific Coast Pitcher of the Week. Seymour was sharp in his start on April 3. He tossed five shutout frames and allowed just two hits and one free pass. He struck out five batters. Seymour also enjoyed a strong outing in the season opener on March 28 when he logged four innings of three-hit ball. In that start, he tallied eight punchouts and allowed just one walk with no runs. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress at Triple-A, as he should be in the mix for his MLB debut later this summer. Last season, Seymour held a modest 4.82 ERA with a 1.57 WHIP across 134 1/3 innings of work with Triple-A Sacramento. If the 26-year-old continues to perform well, he could contend for an early MLB debut.
