Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Unsurprisingly, Carroll will take a seat against a left-handed starting pitcher. The 23-year-old is off to a sluggish start to the season after a breakout year in 2022. Despite that, fantasy managers should continue to hold him in most fantasy formats because Carroll does have the ability to be a superstar in this league. Alek Thomas will cover center field and bat eighth versus Chris Sale on Tuesday.
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll is once again on the bench against a left-handed pitcher on Saturday as he takes a seat against Oakland A's southpaw Hogan Harris. The reigning NL Rookie of the Year has been perhaps the most disappointing fantasy baseball player this season as he is hitting .213 with just two home runs alongside 14 stolen bases and a .617 OPS across 80 games, production that grades out 21% below the league average, as per his 79 WRC+. Interestingly, he has done so despite walking more and striking out less but his production has been a far cry from 2023 when he hit 25 homers, stole 54 bases, and produced an .868 OPS in 155 games. Fantasy managers who used a first-round pick on Carroll have certainly been hurt by the valued investment.
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll is out of the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Washington Nationals with left-hander MacKenzie Gore on the mound. Carroll hasn't performed like the reigning National League Rookie of the Year in 2024, hitting just .218/.309/.324 with two homers, 23 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 43 runs scored in 275 at-bats. It's been disappointing for his fantasy managers, but the good news is that the 23-year-old has begun to turn things around in the month of June, going 18-for-62 (.290) with five doubles, two triples, five RBI, 10 walks, four stolen bases and 17 runs scored in 17 games played. Jake McCarthy is playing center field and batting sixth against Gore on Thursday. McCarthy also hits lefty, but he's actually 12-for-30 (.400) in his limited action against southpaws this year.
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll showed some signs of life with a 3-for-5 performance in Thursday's victory versus the San Diego Padres. The outfielder hit a double with two singles along the way and scored twice. He also swiped his 10th bag of the season. Carroll's big performance increased his batting average to .201 on the season, one that has been a major disappointment. There hasn't been much to be excited about with Carroll this season, but he has hit .280 over his last 25 at-bats. Hopefully this is finally the game that helps turn his season around, one that has had him mired in a slump since Opening Day. Carroll will look to get on-base for a ninth straight start against Michael King and the Padres.
Arizona Diamondbacks struggling outfielder Corbin Carroll has been dropped to eighth in the batting order on Monday against the visiting division-rival San Francisco Giants and left-handed opener Erik Miller. Last year's National League Rookie of the Year has not looked like he did in 2023 so far in 2024. The 23-year-old former 16th overall pick in 2019 does lead the league with four triples, but otherwise he's hit a very disappointing .194 (43-for-222) with two home runs, six doubles, 20 RBI, nine stolen bases, 25 walks and 51 strikeouts in 251 plate appearances over 57 games. Until the D-backs see improvement from Carroll, manager Torey Lovullo indicated that he's likely to continue hitting Carroll near the bottom of the order against left-handers. With Carroll in the eight-hole, catcher Gabriel Moreno is hitting second on Monday.
