Luis Rengifo Leaves With Light-Headedness On Wednesday

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo (illness) was removed from Wednesday's win over the Miami Marlins early after feeling light-headed. Before leaving the contest, Rengifo went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a strikeout out of the leadoff spot. Rookie first baseman Nolan Schanuel entered in place of Rengifo, who was likely dealing with dehydration. The good news for Rengifo is that the Angels have a day off on Thursday before returning home on Friday to face the visiting Boston Red Sox for a three-game series this weekend. Hopefully, the off day will allow Rengifo to come into Friday's game feeling 100 percent. However, Wednesday's start was only his second on the season with Anthony Rendon playing third and Brandon Drury starting at second most of the time in the early going.

Brandon Lowe Leaves Early Wednesday With Side Tightness

The Tampa Bay Rays said that second baseman Brandon Lowe (side) left Wednesday's loss to the Texas Rangers with left-side tightness and is day-to-day. For what it's worth, manager Kevin Cash said that he's hoping Lowe will be able to return to the lineup on Saturday against the Colorado Rockies. The Rays have an off day on Thursday and are scheduled to face a lefty on Friday. The 29-year-old oft-injured second baseman went 0-for-2 with a strikeout on Wednesday before he departed to drop his early season average to .188. Amed Rosario replaced Lowe at the keystone for the rest of the game on Wednesday and could get the start at second for the series opener against Colorado on Friday. Check back on Saturday to see if Lowe is back in there.

Masyn Winn Taking The Day Off Wednesday

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn and outfielder Alec Burleson are both out of the starting lineup on Wednesday for the series finale against the San Diego Padres. Brandon Crawford is getting the start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while Brendan Donovan is leading off and playing left field against Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove. Winn has looked good so far in his first full season as the team's primary shortstop, going 5-for-16 (.313) with an RBI, stolen base and two runs scored in 19 plate appearances through the first five games of the season. Donovan is the much more intriguing DFS play on Wednesday over the veteran Crawford, and he's picked up seven hits in his first 24 at-bats on the year with a home run, six RBI and six runs scored.

Luis Campusano Getting A Breather In Series Finale

San Diego Padres catcher Luis Campusano is getting the day off in the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. With Campusano getting the breather, Kyle Higashioka will catch right-hander Joe Musgrove and bat ninth in the order against Cardinals left-hander Zack Thompson. It's not a surprise to see Campusano starting on the bench in a day game after a night game. The 25-year-old backstop has been great so far this year in his first season as San Diego's primary catcher, going 12-for-30 (.400) with a home run, three doubles, seven RBI and five runs scored in the first seven games. Higashioka, who is known more for his work on defense behind the plate, should be avoided in DFS contests. He has never faced Thompson in his career.

Alec Bohm Resting Wednesday

Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm is resting up on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds and is not in the starting lineup. In his absence, Whit Merrifield will get the start at third base and will bat eighth against Reds right-hander Frankie Montas. This will be Bohm's first day off of the season after he started each of the first five contests of the 2024 season. In those five games, the 27-year-old has gone 5-for-19 (.263) with a double, four RBI and a run scored in 20 plate appearances. Bohm's fantasy upside is somewhat limited hitting in the bottom half of Philly's lineup, but he should have plenty of opportunities to drive in runs again this year. Merrifield has just one hit in his first 10 at-bats with the Phils and is a low-upside DFS play in the eight-hole. However, he is hitting .444 with an RBI in 18 career at-bats versus Montas.
