Brendan Rodgers Sitting On Wednesday

Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers is not in the starting lineup when his team takes on the Chicago Cubs and left-hander Luke Little. The 27-year-old has been deployed as the team's cleanup hitter this season but is off to a rough start as he is just 3-for-25 with seven strikeouts against zero walks in his 25 trips to the plate. The oft-injured former top prospect hit .258 with four homers in just 46 games in the 2023 season and has largely underperformed to this point in his big-league career. Rodgers has hit .262 with 32 homers alongside a .718 OPS despite playing his home games in the league's hitter-friendliest park at Coors Field in Denver.

Josh Jung Now Expected To Miss 8-10 Weeks

After having surgery on his broken right wrist on Wednesday, Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) is now expected to have an eight- to 10-week time frame for a return. The repair of his wrist was a little bit more involved than it appeared to be on his X-rays. Jung fractured his right wrist on Monday when he was hit by a pitch and will now miss extended time. The 26-year-old is quickly developing a reputation for being injury-prone, but he needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues because of his power-hitting upside in a strong lineup when he's healthy. The Rangers called up infield prospect Justin Foscue from the minors earlier this week, but it's been Josh Smith and Ezequiel Duran that have started a game apiece at the hot corner since Jung's injury.

Gabriel Moreno Getting A Day Off

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno is receiving a day off for the matinee game on Wednesday versus the visiting New York Yankees. Tucker Barnhart will catch right-hander Merrill Kelly and will bat eighth against Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon. Moreno showed last fall in the run up to the World Series that he's one of the most exciting young catchers in the game. The 24-year-old Venezuelan is off to a bit of a slow start offensively through five games, though, going 4-for-19 (.2110 with a double, triple, five RBI and four runs scored in 21 plate appearances. Fantasy managers shouldn't be very alarmed this early, however. Barnhart is 0-for-4 in his career against Rodon.

Tyler O'Neill Not Playing Wednesday

Boston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Oakland Athletics. It looks to be a normal day of rest for O'Neill in a day game following an extra-inning night game on Tuesday. The 28-year-old Canadian is off to a good start in his first year with the Red Sox through six games, going 6-for-18 (.333) with two home runs, two RBI, a stolen base, five walks and a league-high six runs scored in his first 23 plate appearances. With O'Neill out on Wednesday, Wilyer Abreu is starting in right field and batting ninth against A's right-hander Ross Stripling. Abreu has started the year just 1-for-10 with two walks and six strikeouts and should be avoided as a deep DFS sleeper on Wednesday.

Orlando Arcia Getting A Breather In Series Finale

Atlanta Braves shortstop Orlando Arcia is getting a day off on Wednesday in the series finale against the Chicago White Sox. Luis Guillorme will handle shortstop duties in his absence and will hit ninth against White Sox opener Dominic Leone. Guillorme has never faced Leone in his career and should be avoided in DFS at the bottom of Atlanta's batting order. The 29-year-old Arcia was a first-time All-Start with the Braves last year and is off to another strong start in 2024 by going 9-for-20 (.450) with a league-high four doubles, two RBI, two runs scored and five strikeouts in 21 plate appearances over the first five games of the season. Expect Arcia to be back at the 6 on Friday for the start of a series at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
