Yoshinobu Yamamoto Dominant In Second Start

After getting roughed up in his first start during the Seoul Series against the Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto bounced back nicely in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals. Yamamoto came out firing, striking out the first batter of the game on three pitches, proceeded to strike out the side, and ended up tossing five innings of scoreless baseball. He allowed just two hits in the outing, didn't walk a batter, and struck out five. Now that's what the Dodgers expected when they signed the 25-year-old in the offseason. His next start lines up with the Chicago Cubs in Wrigley.

Clay Holmes Records Second Save In 2024

New York Yankees right-hander Clay Holmes tossed a scoreless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Houston Astros. He entered the game in the ninth inning to protect a two-run lead. The 31-year-old needed 11 pitches to make quick work of the Astros en route to his second save of the season. He is 2-for-2 in save chances while posting a 1.50 WHIP over two scoreless innings in 2024. Holmes is the Yankee's primary closer after notching 20-plus save seasons in the previous two years. Fantasy managers should continue to start Holmes in all league formats, as the Yankees right-hander will rack up 20 or more saves for a third straight year.

Lars Nootbaar Set For Rehab Assignment Next Week

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar (ribs) will likely begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday. He had four at-bats and got five innings of work in a simulated game in Florida. The 26-year-old is eligible to come off the injured list on Thursday. He had two non-displaced fractures in his left ribcage in spring training and has been sidelined since early March. He slashed .261/.367/.418 with 14 home runs, 46 RBI, 74 runs, and 11 stolen bases over 503 plate appearances in 2023. Barring any setbacks, Nootbaar is trending in the right direction and could be activated from the injured list next week. Nootbaar is expected to be the team's everyday left fielder when he returns, and fantasy managers searching for outfield help can look to add him in all league formats.

Michael Conforto Blasts Grand Slam On Saturday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Conforto went 2-for-4 with a double and a grand slam in Saturday's 9-6 win over the San Diego Padres. He blasted a grand slam off Tom Cosgrove in the top of the eighth inning to put the Giants 9-1. The 31-year-old is off to a hit start, hitting .462 with two home runs, five RBI, and five runs scored over three games. He is San Francisco's starting left fielder and will look to improve on his 2023 campaign, where he slashed .239/.334/.384 with 15 home runs and 58 RBI over 470 plate appearances. Fantasy managers looking for a streamer or outfield help can look to pick up and start Conforto while he's wielding a hot bat.

Red Sox Hoping Rafael Devers Can Return On Sunday

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulder) is feeling better and could return to the lineup as soon as Sunday. According to manager Alex Cora, Devers hasn't undergone imaging, but the team is optimistic he will return to the lineup on Sunday. Devers has been dealing with shoulder soreness since spring training. The 27-year-old took swings in the cage on Saturday and is trending in the right direction to suit up on Sunday. He went 2-for-5 with a double, a homer, and two RBI in the Opening Day win over the Mariners. Devers is considered day-to-day, as fantasy managers will have to check back on Sunday to see if he's in Boston's starting lineup for the series finale.
