Detroit Tigers rookie third baseman Jace Jung will retreat to the bench for a breather in Monday's series opener against the visiting Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park. Zach McKinstry is handling hot-corner duties and will hit sixth against Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck. Jung has really struggled at the plate in his first 40 at-bats over 16 games played in just his second MLB season in 2025, recording four hits, driving in three, scoring six runs, walking seven times and striking out 13 times in 47 plate appearances. McKinstry has been better at the dish but offers minimal fantasy upside for DFS lineups on Monday. The 30-year-old has hit .274 (34-for-124) with only one home run, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored and three stolen bases early in the year for Detroit. In seven career at-bats versus Houck, he's hitting .143 with a .286 OPS.

The Cleveland Guardians optioned shortstop Brayan Rocchio to Triple-A Columbus on Monday and recalled outfielder Will Brennan from Columbus in a corresponding move. Rocchio will go down to the farm to work on his offensive skills after starting the 2025 season with a .165/.235/.198 slash line in 35 games this year. With the 24-year-old now out of the picture in Cleveland for the time being, Gabriel Arias will start at shortstop and hit seventh on Monday against Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. Brennan also draws into the starting lineup immediately for the series opener at Progressive Field, playing right field and batting ninth. Arias had already been seeing more playing time at the 6 with Rocchio struggling. The 25-year-old Venezuelan is slashing .264/.319/.416 with four long balls, 16 RBI 21 runs and two steals in his 125 at-bats in 2025.

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Angel Martinez is out of the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers at Progressive Field. Nolan Jones will make the start in center field and will hit eighth against Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. Martinez will take a seat for Cleveland after starting each of their last seven games. The 23-year-old Dominican has been seeing most of the playing time in center for the Guardians with Lane Thomas (wrist) on the injured list. He's gone 8-for-32 (.250) with a homer, double, six RBI, a steal and five runs scored in 10 games so far in May. The counting stats have been lacking, but overall Martinez has been great for those in AL-only leagues with a .303 average (27-for-89). Jones has plenty of power to spare but is hitting just .156 (14-for-90) on the year with two homers. He's gone hitless in two career at-bats against Peralta.

Washington Nationals pitching prospect Jarlin Susana (elbow) has been placed on the seven-day minor-league injured list with a Grade 1 UCL sprain. The team believes he's avoided a major injury that would require Tommy John surgery, but he'll be shut down from throwing and be re-evaluated in two weeks. The Nats' second-ranked prospect has a 4.15 ERA for Double-A Harrisburg, but a 16.4 percent walk rate takes some of the shine off of the righty's 31.1 percent strikeout rate, leading to an ugly 1.69 WHIP. Still, if the 6-foot-6 hurler can rein in some of the walks, he possesses a triple-digit fastball and a devastating slider that makes him an intriguing future fantasy asset. Assuming he won't require surgery, the 21-year-old is expected to make his big-league debut in 2026. Dynasty managers will want to keep an eye on him as he could be an impactful starter, but if the command isn't improved, he could be converted to a closer.

New York Mets outfielder Tyrone Taylor is out of the team's starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates at Citi Field. Jeff McNeil is starting in center field and is batting sixth against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes. Taylor will get a day of rest after starting in each of the team's last seven games. The 31-year-old veteran has been the Mets' preferred option in center field this year, but he's offered fantasy managers in NL-only leagues very little with one home run, six RBI, 15 runs scored and three steals while batting .241 (26-for-108). In 10 games so far in May, he's gone 8-for-27 (.296) with two doubles, a triple, a steal and six runs scored. After getting a late start to 2025 due to injury, McNeil has gone 9-for-39 with two homers, six RBI and four runs for the Mets. Although he has a homer in three career at-bats against Skenes, he'll be a fade in DFS on Monday.
