Landon Knack To Start On Wednesday

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Landon Knack will be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to make the start on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park, according to manager Dave Roberts. The Dodgers are moving to a six-man starting rotation with lefty Blake Snell (shoulder) on the injured list, meaning that both Knack and lefty Justin Wrobleski, who is starting Tuesday's game, should see multiple starts to close out the season's first month. The 27-year-old Knack makes for an interesting DFS and deep-league streamer immediately this week. He tossed two scoreless innings in relief in Tokyo, Japan, against the Chicago Cubs in mid-March and was impressive in his rookie year in 2024, posting a 3.65 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, one save, 69 strikeouts and 18 walks in 69 innings pitched. The former second-rounder has allowed two earned runs with five K's in 4 2/3 relief innings at Oklahoma City this year.

Zac Veen Called Up, Batting Seventh In MLB Debut

The Colorado Rockies officially announced on Tuesday that they recalled outfield prospect Zac Veen from Triple-A Albuquerque after optioning outfielder Jordan Beck to Albuquerque on Monday. Veen is starting in right field and batting seventh in his major-league debut on Tuesday against Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta at Coors Field. The 23-year-old is considered the Rockies' No. 8 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he should receive regular playing time in the outfield, making him worth a look off the waiver wire in deep-mixed fantasy leagues. The former first-rounder (ninth overall) in 2020 looked good in spring training and went 12-for-31 with a homer and eight RBI in his first eight games with Albuquerque before his call-up. Veen will have a tough first big-league matchup against the veteran Peralta.

Spencer Arrighetti Officially Lands On 15-Day Injured List

The Houston Astros officially placed right-hander Spencer Arrighetti (thumb) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with a fractured right thumb and recalled reliever Luis Contreras from the minors in a corresponding move. In a freak incident, Arrighetti broke his thumb during batting practice before Monday's contest against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. It's a tough break for the 25-year-old, who will most likely miss at least a month of action. Even though Arrighetti has a 5.59 ERA (4.62 FIP) and 0.93 WHIP with eight strikeouts and five starts in his first two starts this year, fantasy managers in mixed leagues should be looking to stash him in an IL spot. The Astros haven't revealed their plans yet as to who will replace the second-year starter in the rotation.

Lane Thomas Leaves After Being Hit By Pitch On Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas (wrist) left the team's home opener on Tuesday against the division-rival Chicago White Sox after he was hit by a pitch near/on his right wrist. Thomas was checked out by a trainer and manager Stephen Vogt and stayed in the game, but he was removed after one batter before Daniel Schneemann pinch-ran for him. Before departing, the 29-year-old went 0-for-1 with a strikeout. Cleveland will most likely put Thomas through some tests to determine the severity of his injury, but even if he avoids a fracture, there's a good chance we won't see him on Wednesday at Progressive Field. If Thomas is forced to miss extended time, Schneemann could see regular playing time in center field. It's been a tough start to 2025 for Thomas, as he came into Tuesday's game hitting .172 (5-for-29) with seven strikeouts in seven games.UPDATE: Thomas was diagnosed with a right-wrist contusion, so consider him day-to-day.

Dylan Moore Batting Leadoff On Tuesday

Seattle Mariners infielder/outfielder Dylan Moore is starting at third base and is hitting leadoff on Tuesday against the division-rival Houston Astros and left-hander Framber Valdez at T-Mobile Park. It's notable with outfielder Victor Robles (shoulder) on the injured list with a serious shoulder injury that could keep him out for the majority of the season. The 32-year-old Moore will see a boost in fantasy value in deeper leagues if he gets a long look in the leadoff spot for Seattle moving forward, especially after his hot start to 2025. He's currently slashing .381/.480/.667 with a 1.147 OPS, two home runs, two RBI, two stolen bases and five runs scored in his first nine games played. Moore is especially useful in fantasy for his speed (career-high 32 swipes in 2023) and his multi-position eligibility. He's hit .192 in 26 career at-bats versus Valdez, but he does have one homer and three RBI.
