San Diego Padres outfielder Tirso Ornelas has been recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday. The 25-year-old figures to see fairly regular playing time with Jason Heyward (knee) heading to the injured list. Last season, Ornelas slashed .297/.367/.497 with 23 home runs and 89 RBI across 128 games in Triple-A. Ornelas was 18-for-64 at the plate with seven RBI in 17 games in the minors before being recalled. One paper, it appears Ornelas is ready to play at the big league level. He's not someone that needs to be immediately added in fantasy formats. This is more of a wait-and-see type of situation.

Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher David Bednar has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday. The 30-year-old was optioned to the minors after allowing four earned runs across three appearances early in the season. Since then, Bednar has tossed five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts over five appearances. Dennis Santana has been operating as the closer lately, so it's unclear if Bednar will take over the role. The expectation is Bednar will move back into a high-leverage role, but he might not get a ton of save opportunities right away. Bednar is worth monitoring in fantasy leagues, but isn't a must-have player right now.

New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice (elbow) was forced to exit early during Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Rice was hit by a pitch twice and was eventually pulled out from the contest due to a left elbow contusion. The Yankees have decided to schedule an MRI and CT scan for Rice to determine the severity of the injury. Fantasy managers will need to be patient and wait for the results of the testing. Rice has been off to a hot start as he's hitting over .290 with five homers, nine RBI, and 10 walks in less than 20 games played.
