Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia shut the door on the Cubs in a 6-3 win on Wednesday. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning where he allowed one walk, one hit, and struck out one. The bulk of the save chances in 2025 figure to go to Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates, but Vesia should pick up a handful of his own. In this case, Scott had been used the previous day in the ninth, and Yates was used Wednesday in the 8th. Vesia was one of the most dominant relievers in baseball in 2024, posting a 1.76 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 87 strikeouts in 66.1 innings. He should continue to see plenty of high-leverage usage, but the crowded bullpen makes him more useful for fantasy leagues that reward holds.

Washington Nationals third base prospect Brady House was reassigned to minor-league camp on Wednesday. The 2021 first-round draft pick had a solid showing this spring, going 7-for-21 (.333) with one stolen base and a 4:4 BB:K. The Nats will roll with veteran Paul DeJong at third for the time being while House will get more seasoningin the minors before he gets the call to the big leagues. The 6-foot-4 slugger ascended to Triple-A by midseason last yearand slashed .250/.280/.375 with six home runs in 224 at-bats, but registered a high 28.8 percent K% and a low 3.0 percent BB%. Big power can come with lots of strikeouts, but Washington will probablywant to see him have a bit more success before giving him a shot in the majors. The Nationals' fourth-ranked prospect could have an immediate impact, though, and fantasy managers should stay vigilant for any positive developments as the season progresses.

Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Tommy Edman hit his first homer of the year in the Dodgers 6-3 win over the Cubs on Wednesday in Tokyo, Japan. It's certainly a good start to the season for the infielder, who also logged an RBI single in the first game of the Tokyo Series on Tuesday. He had a limited but productive debut season with the Dodgers in 2024, slashing .237/.294/.417 with six home runs, 20 RBI, 20 runs, and six stolen bases in 37 games. He has some sleeper appeal in this loaded Los Angeles lineup as he hopes to return to the form he showed from 2021 to 2023. He tallied double-digit home runs and at least 27 steals in each of those three seasons, which is a very valuable skillset for fantasy.

The Washington Nationals optioned outfield prospect Robert Hassell III to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday, but the former eighth-overall draft pick definitelymade his mark on the spring, going17-for-46 (.370) with a home run, five doubles, and a pair of stolen bases in Grapefruit League play. The left-handed hitter got a taste of Triple-A pitching late lastseason but did not havethe desired results after slashing .125/.188/.156 with no home runs and a 24.6 percent strikeout rate. So, the 23-year-old will get another chance to test his mettle against the top tier of minor league pitching, and after the spring he had, could push for a majorleague debut later this year if all goes well. The Nats' 12th-ranked prospect is not a stash candidate in redraft leagues yet but has the tools to produce when ready, so managers will want to keep tabs on his performance at Rochester.

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach looked untouchable on Wednesday against the Yankees, striking out 10 over six scoreless innings. He'll be heading into the regular season on a high note as he hopes to continue the success he saw as a rookie. In 2024, he posted a 3.35 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 127 strikeouts across 123 innings. He excelled at fooling hitters, as evidenced by his 34.2% chase rate (96th percentile) and 4.6% walk rate (95th percentile). All signs are pointing towards a breakout season for the 24-year-old, who has the talent to be a top-20 starting pitcher for fantasy this year.
