Still No Timeline For Carlos Correa's Return

There remains no timeline for Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa's (heel) return from the plantar fasciitis in his right heel, head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta said on Tuesday. Correa ran again on Tuesday, still experiencing discomfort, as the Twins are still managing their shortstop's situation of pain management. Although he reported feeling better than he did the last time he ran, Correa still isn't running the bases. The 29-year-old star infielder has been on the 10-day injured list since July 20, and there's simply no telling how much longer this issue might linger for. Until Correa is back with Minnesota, super utility man Willi Castro should remain rostered in all fantasy leagues.

Clarke Schmidt Ready To Make Rehab Start

New York Yankees starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt (lat) expects to make his first minor-league rehab start on Friday, likely for Double-A Somerset. Schmidt is set to throw around 50 pitches in what should be the first of multiple rehab outings in the minor leagues, and if all goes well on his assignment, he could return to the big leagues during the second week of September. Before heading to the shelf due to a strained right lat, the 28-year-old upstart right-hander was one of New York's top pitchers, going 5-3 with a 2.52 ERA and 67 strikeouts over 60 2/3 innings (11 starts). Once Schmidt is back in the mix, it'll be interesting to see if the Yankees opt to employ a six-man rotation or move one of their current starters into the bullpen.

Jon Berti Set To Begin Rehab Assignment

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone believes infielder/outfielder Jon Berti (calf) will start a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday. Berti has been recovering from a strained left calf since May 24, re-aggravating the injury during the All-Star break in July. When he returns, the 34-year-old veteran utility man will offer the Yankees some speed and another option to help fill their gaping hole at third base. In 17 games this season, Berti has gone a solid 15-for-55 (.273) with six RBI and four stolen bases. If Jazz Chisholm Jr. (elbow) beats him back to the Bronx, however, Berti will likely be restricted to the occasional spot start and pinch-runner duties off the bench.

Dodgers Activate Blake Treinen From Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated relief pitcher Blake Treinen (hip) and optioned right-hander Ben Casparius to the minor leagues ahead of Wednesday's game against the visiting Seattle Mariners at Dodger Stadium. Treinen is back to help LA's bullpen after a rehab outing and a brief stint on the injured list due to left hip discomfort. The 36-year-old veteran right-hander holds a solid 2.67 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 38 strikeouts and nine walks over 30 1/3 innings this season, but he's converted just one of his five save opportunities while picking up nine holds. Even with the Dodgers appearing to sport a three-man committee at closer amongst Michael Kopech, Daniel Hudson, and Evan Phillips at the moment, Treinen is still likely to handle his fair share of high-leverage work.

Aaron Judge Continues Tearing It Up

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge launched two more home runs in Wednesday night's blowout win over the visiting Cleveland Guardians. Judge first belted a two-run homer off Guardians left-hander Joey Cantillo to right-center field to extend the Yankees' lead to 4-0 in the third inning, then going to the opposite field for his second long ball of the game to give New York an 8-0 lead in the seventh frame of Wednesday's victory over Cleveland. The 32-year-old generational slugger still has Royals superstar Bobby Witt Jr. on his tail as it relates to the American League MVP race, but Judge has been simply otherworldly since his long-forgotten sluggish spring, batting .382 (120-for-314) with 39 homers, 95 RBI, and 82 runs scored in his last 89 games dating back to May 5.
