Blake Treinen Dealing With Low-Grade Forearm Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen (forearm) is dealing with a low-grade sprain and will begin a "conservative" rehab. The reliever will not have to undergo surgery. This is an excellent sign as Treinen was placed on the 15-day injured list with a forearm injury on Saturday. However, it appears the 36-year-old has avoided a significant injury. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he slowly increases his workload. Through the early part of the campaign, the right-hander has held a 3.38 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP across eight innings of work. He has struck out 10 batters, tallied three holds, and earned two saves. He has generated a strong 3.47 xERA with a stellar 31.8 percent hard-hit rate. While the right-hander remains out, Tanner Scott should see the bulk of the save opportunities with Kirby Yates and Alex Vesia mixing in.

Blake Treinen Secures Second Save Of The Season

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen worked a scoreless ninth inning despite giving up a hit and a walk to the Nationals on Wednesday in Washington. He stranded two runners in scoring position when James Wood grounded out to end the game and helped the Dodgers avoid suffering a road sweep at the hands of the Nationals. The Dodgers had to rely on their relievers early in this game after Luke Knack gave up five runs in just 2 1/3 innings, but the bullpen delivered 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. The Dodgers are using a few different options to close out games based on the situation, but Treinen remains part of the mix and has two saves in three opportunities, along with a pair of holds. He has allowed two runs in six innings this season with seven strikeouts.

Blake Treinen Earns Save On Thursday

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen got the call in the ninth inning to seal the victory against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. Treinen allowed a leadoff single to second baseman Gleyber Torres. He then struck out Riley Greene for his first out. However, he then walked Spencer Torkelson. Treinen was able to bounce back and retire the next two batters, one with a strikeout to seal the victory. Earlier in the offseason, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed that Tanner Scott would be the primary closer. However, through their first three games, Scott has earned just one save, with Alex Vesia and Treinen earning the others. In Thursday's contest, Scott entered the game in the eighth inning. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor how the Dodgers deploy their high-leverage relievers. However, given the elite offensive firepower in Los Angeles, both Scott and Treinen could have value in standard formats, even if they share save opportunities.
