Dodgers Transfer Blake Treinen, Michael Kopech To 60-Day Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred right-handed reliever Blake Treinen (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Thursday, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. Righty reliever Michael Kopech (shoulder) to the 60-day IL. In other moves, the Dodgers claimed J.P. Feyereisen off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks and acquired right-hander Ryan Loutos from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for cash considerations. Treinen, 36, has yet to resume throwing after suffering a sprained right forearm in mid-April and now won't be able to come off the IL until the middle of June. Kopech, 29, hasn't pitched yet in 2025 due to right-forearm inflammation and a right-shoulder impingement. He's likely to return before Treinen does and has built up to 30 pitches during bullpen sessions.

Blake Treinen Shut Down For Undisclosed Period Of Time

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-handed reliever Blake Treinen (forearm) will be shut down for a to be determined amount of time. The Dodgers are in no rush to bring Treinen back to the major-league bullpen, and they shouldn't given how many capable arms they have. The 36-year-old veteran was placed on the 15-day injured list back on April 19 with tightness in his right forearm. He will not return to the Dodgers when he's eligible to come off the IL later this week. Before his injury, Treinen had allowed three earned runs on eight hits (one homer) while walking three and striking out 10 in eight innings of relief. He also had two saves. For however long Treinen remains away from the Dodgers, right-hander Evan Phillips should have a bigger role as a late-inning setup man before Kirby Yates and closer Tanner Scott.

Blake Treinen Dealing With Low-Grade Forearm Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen (forearm) is dealing with a low-grade sprain and will begin a "conservative" rehab. The reliever will not have to undergo surgery. This is an excellent sign as Treinen was placed on the 15-day injured list with a forearm injury on Saturday. However, it appears the 36-year-old has avoided a significant injury. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he slowly increases his workload. Through the early part of the campaign, the right-hander has held a 3.38 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP across eight innings of work. He has struck out 10 batters, tallied three holds, and earned two saves. He has generated a strong 3.47 xERA with a stellar 31.8 percent hard-hit rate. While the right-hander remains out, Tanner Scott should see the bulk of the save opportunities with Kirby Yates and Alex Vesia mixing in.
