Oakland Athletics catcher prospect Daniel Susac was 4-for-5 with two homers and five RBI for Double-A Midland on Monday. The 23-year-old is hitting .289 with five homers and 23 RBI at Midland this season. The Athletics' No. 5 prospect was dialed in during June with a .340 batting average during the month and that production transitioned into the first game in July. The 2022 first-round pick of Oakland could be their catcher of the future. He could be looking at an MLB debut by next season if he continues to progress and is a name to monitor at a thin fantasy position.

Washington Nationals outfielder James Wood singled in his first big-league at-bat during Monday's 9-7 loss to the New York Mets. MLB Pipeline's third-ranked prospect also reached on an error and finished 1-for-4 with a strikeout and a walk. Wood showed great plate discipline in his first at-bat, forcing Mets starter David Peterson to use six pitches before Wood delivered an opposite-field single in the bottom of the second. Fantasy managers have waited for Wood, who hit .353/.463/.595 with 10 homers, 37 RBI, 44 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases at Triple-A Rochester, and have no plans to pry him out of their lineups. If Wood is available on waiver wires, break the FAAB bank.

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle hit a pair of homers in Monday's 8-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Doyle, who finished 3-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base, hit a two-run homer in the second before launching a solo blast in the eighth that tied the score at 7-7. He is hitting .260/.323/.408 with nine homers, 30 RBI, 48 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases. After struggling in June that saw him finish with a .223/.245/.298 slash line, Doyle and his fantasy managers hope Monday's effort is the jumping-off point for better numbers. His stolen-base potential alone will keep Doyle in the good graces of fantasy managers.

New York Mets pitcher David Peterson pitched well enough to earn a win yet finished with a no-decision in Monday's 9-7 loss at the Washington Nationals. Peterson recorded his third quality start after allowing two earned runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and a walk. Peterson is 3-0 with a 3.51 ERA and 1.44 WHIP, striking out 22, and walking 14 in 33 1/3 innings. Fantasy managers looking for wins might consider adding Peterson, but his overall numbers make him risky. However, his next start is scheduled for Saturday at the Pittsburgh Pirates, making him a good, but not great, streaming option.

Colorado Rockies pitcher Austin Gomber struggled through six innings during Monday's 8-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Gomber received a no-decision after allowing four earned runs on nine hits, striking out three, and not allowing a walk. Monday was a mild improvement, yet Gomber has allowed at least four earned runs in each of his last five starts that has taken his ERA from 2.76 on May 22 to his current 4.72 mark. Gomber is 1-5 with a 1.32 WHIP with 59 strikeouts and 24 walks in 87 2/3 innings. Fantasy managers would be wise to avoid Gomber, even in deeper leagues.
