College Football Betting Picks: Week 9

Week 9 of the college football season is here.

Below, Monotone will give out his favorite CFB play of the week.

Wake Forest -3.5

While it feels like this is one of the more popular picks this week, I think it’s for a good reason. This really does feel like a matchup between two teams that just aren’t on the same level. Wake Forest spent last week absolutely dismantling Boston College, a team that beat Louisville earlier this season. While they are coming in with an impressive win over Pittsburg last week, I think that game might have been more an indictment about the Pittsburgh offense than a statement about Louisville. 

While I understand the Demon Deacons are coming in as road favorites, we have to remember this is one of the more veteran experienced teams in the nation, helmed by quarterback Sam Hartman. He has thrown for 1,755 yards in six games this year, with a 21-3 touchdown to interception ratio and looked impressive in the process with games against Clemson and Florida State. Louisville is getting quarterback Malik Cunningham again, but he didn’t look as fluid, and gets a tough task with Wake Forest. There is a clear tier gap between these two teams, and while Louisville has had a nice couple weeks, I think they get a reality check.

Michigan -22.5

As someone with Michigan State family, this one hurts. What once was an exciting state rivalry is now seemingly a fairly one-sided affair. There were plenty of doubts surrounding this Michigan team, especially with their strength of schedule coming into the Penn State game. Well, I would say they answered all questions there, beating PSU 41-17. Here’s the thing, Penn State is a much better team than Michigan State, and I expect we see another blowout by Saturday afternoon. This Michigan offense is led by Blake Corum, who has arguably been a top 3 back in the nation this season, rushing for 901 yards and 13 touchdowns on 146 carries. Michigan State has met two ranked teams this season and lost to them by 29 and 27. Michigan is one of the best teams in the nation, and despite the passion, I don’t think MSU will be able to keep up.
