It can be hard to prep for fantasy football during training camp and the preseason. Things happen every day that might be a huge deal for fantasy … or might be no deal at all.

Sometimes we can figure it out, but sometimes it’s just a matter of paying attention to what happens to know what might matter just so things don’t slip through the cracks.

So each day in this space, we’ll take a trip through the top news and takeaways around the league’s training camps to offer up what fantasy managers need to know as we head through draft season and into the 2023 NFL regular season.

Dolphins, Mystery Team in on Jonathan Taylor

The Miami Dolphins and a mystery team are apparently bidding against each other in the Jonathan Taylor trade saga. Tuesday is the deadline (per the Colts).

It seems “more likely” than not he’ll be traded. A move to the Dolphins would bolster his fantasy stock. He’s currently being drafted in the third round.

Kyler Murray to Open Season on PUP

This means Kyler Murray will miss at least the first four games of the season. This was always the most likely scenario. Murray is sometimes completely free in fantasy drafts:

The Cardinals surprisingly cut Colt McCoy after wasting an entire training camp giving him first-team reps and are refusing to name a Week 1 starter between Joshua Dobbs and Clayton Tune, citing the “competitive advantage” it gives them. Over whom, we’re not sure.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Expected to Avoid PUP

This means Jaxon Smith-Njigba will be on the active roster from Week 1. The rookie might not be ready for Week 1, but it appears the Seahawks think he’ll be ready to return at some point before Week 4.
