We’re in the final stretch. This is the last main NFL DFS slate to qualify for the DraftKings Championship (FFWC), which takes place next weekend. I personally have just two entries so far, both won via showdown slates. Nevertheless, this is my favorite main slate week of the NFL season, especially to try to qualify for the DraftKings FFWC.
I’ll take you back through a little TwoGun history. It was 2017, no one knew or cared what COVID-19, TikTok or even a DFS showdown was. I had a fairly good season, but no mega hits and only one DraftKings FFWC seat that I won via a two-game slate (that was what we old timers played before NFL showdown was a thing for primetime games).
On Week 14 in 2017, I basically won every GPP on the slate, including the vast majority of the DraftKings FFWC qualifiers. At the time, a person could win a max of eight DraftKings seats, and I managed to win eight more Sunday, plus the Milly Maker, the Wildcat, and a few other things for a total of a $1.7m profit. Since that would have taken me to nine FFWC entries, DraftKings paid out my extra seat in cash to me and had to run another qualifier Monday for that extra seat I won.
It was, of course, a contrarian Packers stack that won it for me, but the lineup also contained a very chalky, injury replacement Giovani Bernard at running back, and a few other contrarian pieces at receiver and tight end. Perhaps there are echoes of that lineup build this week, where we have some good mega chalk at running back, but we can find some contrarian, high ceiling quarterbacks and pass catchers?
