The Denver Broncos are hoping that their blockbuster trade for Russell Wilson ends their playoff drought. In order for the Broncos to become a contender in the 2022 NFL season, Wilson must play like a top-tier quarterback and approach the passing totals for his prop bets.

Wilson has an over/under of 4,050.5 passing yards at FanDuel Sportsbook. The Broncos’ quarterback needs to throw for 32 touchdowns in order to go over his TD prop bet.

A finger injury cost Wilson three games in the 2021 season. The veteran threw for a career-low 3,113 yards, along with 25 touchdowns, which marked the third-lowest total of his 10-year career. Still, Wilson managed to post a 103.1 passer rating and earn yet another Pro Bowl selection. Before getting hurt in Week 5, Wilson was on pace for 4,437 passing yards and 38 passing touchdowns over 17 games.

There are high expectations in Denver because of Wilson’s arrival. The Broncos have gone through 11 different quarterbacks since Peyton Manning led the team to a Super Bowl championship six years ago. During his decade-long run with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson was one of the NFL’s most consistent signal-callers.

Wilson is joining a new team with a first-year head coach. Nathaniel Hackett takes over in Denver after spending three years as the Green Bay Packers’ offensive coordinator. Can Wilson be even better with the Broncos, or was last year a sign that he’s already past his prime?

Let’s take a look at the odds for Wilson’s passing totals in the 2022 NFL season and the best bet for each prop.

How Many Passing Yards Will Russell Wilson Have In 2022?

Over 4,050.5 Yards (-112), FanDuel Sportsbook

Don’t be surprised if Wilson sets a career high in passing yards in his first season with the Broncos. Wilson would’ve had another 4,000-yard season in 2021 if he didn’t get hurt. Now that he’s out of Seattle, Wilson could be looking to prove that he has what it takes to put up MVP-caliber numbers.

Wilson was limited to 222.4 passing yards per game in 2021 because he rushed back from finger surgery. In his last two healthy seasons, Wilson easily surpassed his 2022 passing yards total in 16 games. Wilson had 4,110 yards in 2019 and 4,212 yards in 2020. In order to go over his passing yards total in 17 games, Wilson would only have to average 238.3 yards per contest. From 2015-2020, Wilson averaged at least 248.9 yards per game in five out of six seasons.

Going from Seattle to Denver, Wilson upgrades from a poor offensive line to an average one. The Broncos might not have a wide receiver who’s as good as DK Metcalf, but their entire receiving corps is among the deepest in the NFL. Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick and KJ Hamler give Wilson an array of weapons to work with in Denver.

How Many Touchdown Passes Will Russell Wilson Throw In 2022?

Over 31.5 TDs (-110), DraftKings Sportsbook

Wilson’s prop bet for touchdown passes is the same at most sportsbooks, but DraftKings offers the best price with -110 odds. There’s a good chance that Wilson will go over the total if he stays healthy, which was never an issue before suffering a fluky injury last year. Through the first nine seasons of his career, Wilson started every single game.

From 2017-2020, Wilson averaged 35 touchdown passes per season. He never finished with fewer than 31 scores during that time. In his most recent full season, Wilson hit the 40-touchdown mark and was one of the most accurate passers in the red zone. Among the 17 quarterbacks who had at least 60 pass attempts inside the 20-yard line in 2020, only Aaron Rodgers had a better completion percentage than Wilson.

The conditions are set for Wilson to have a bounce-back season with a new team, just as Matthew Stafford did last season and Tom Brady did two years ago. The AFC West is loaded at quarterback and should feature a ton of high-scoring games. Wilson is especially dangerous late in close games, and he might find himself in several of those situations against Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert and Derek Carr. Wilson can also pad his touchdown total against poor defenses that belong to the likes of the Seahawks, Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

How to Bet Russell Wilson Props

Player prop bets aren’t only available for individual games. Sportsbooks allow bettors to wager on player totals for the entire season.

Once you’ve set up an account with a sportsbook that operates in your state and you’ve deposited money, you’re ready to bet on player futures. In the player props section, quarterbacks are given a passing yards total, along with odds for both the over and the under.

Russell Wilson’s regular-season passing yards total, for example, is 4,050.5 yards. The over and the under both have -112 odds. When the odds have a minus sign, the number represents how much money you would have to risk in order to make $100 for a winning bet.

A winning $112 bet on Wilson to throw over 4,050.5 yards would result in a profit of $100. In total, $212 should be added to your account, including a $100 profit and the $112 you originally wagered. A winning $100 bet on Wilson’s over for passing yards would come with a $89.29 profit
