Ravens vs Chiefs Week 2 Betting Odds, Picks, and Trends

The Green Bay Packers return home to Lambeau Field after getting their butts handed to them from the New Orleans Saints and face an old reliable foe in the Detroit Lions. The Lions were left for dead vs the 49ers and while they still managed to cover the +8 spread, it will likely be an uphill battle to keep pace with the Packers. Green Bay opened as 10.5-point favorites to shake off their ugly loss vs New Orleans.

Latest Chiefs-Ravens Odds

Looking for the latest odds for this matchup? Here they are, with the best prices from various sportsbooks showing first.

Opening Odds – Ravens vs. Chiefs

After closing as 5.5-point home favorites vs the Browns, the Chiefs head to Baltimore for a primetime matchup with the Ravens and opened as 3-point favorites. The line has since moved to -3.5 in favor of Kansas City as nearly ALL the early money is on the Chiefs to cover the number.

As for the total, it’s easily the highest total of the week and opened at a whopping 55.5 with bettors split on which way the final score will go. Last year’s matchup between these teams in Week 3 closed with a total of 55 and fell just short as the Chiefs won 34-20.

Quarterback Analysis – Patrick Mahomes vs. Lamar Jackson

Not sure much more analysis FTNBets can provide on describing Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who again put on a clinic in Week 1. 337 passing yards, three touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown to boot, there’s a reason he’s favored to win NFL MVP. Being able to summon an effort like that against a pretty strong Browns defense just shows that the Ravens will have their work cut out for them.

As for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, accuracy in the late-game stages continued to plague the fourth-year QB and while he can still make fantastic plays with his legs, the fourth quarter vs the Raiders would be one to forget. In fairness, the Ravens offensive line got overwhelmed by the Raiders’ newfound pass rush but the secondary put Jackson in uncomfortable positions. He only managed to throw for 235 yards and one touchdown but picked up 86 yards rushing as he continues to be the shiftiest skill-position player in the NFL. Worth noting the Chiefs limited Lamar Jackson to 95 passing yards and one passing touchdown in last year’s Week 3 showdown which the Chiefs won handily.

Latest Chiefs Betting News & Info

Although the Chiefs put on a clinic of how to spearhead a comeback in an NFL game in Week 1, the fact remains that they did not cover the spread and since the start of the 2020 season, they’re 7-12-1 ATS. Why that record is funny is sportsbooks are likely making a killing off the general public because the Chiefs are one of the most-bet teams in the NFL and have a losing spread record.

That being said, it’ll take a lot of convincing to encourage anyone to fade the Chiefs as favorites of 3.5 or less but even then, not a great bet in this spot. Since Patrick Mahomes has started at quarterback, the Chiefs have been in 14 games as a favorite of 3.5-points or less and are 7-6-1 ATS. Not exactly inspiring. With nearly all the bets on the Chiefs at this stage, it wouldn’t shock me to see this line climb to -4.5 by kickoff.

Latest Ravens Betting News & Info

Although they lost a tough road game, bettors shouldn’t just outright dismiss the Ravens going into this matchup with the Chiefs. The Ravens were 5-3 ATS in eight home games last season and it’s the first home game in nearly two years where they’ll be an underdog. The last time was against the Steelers in Week 16 in 2019 and they pummeled Pittsburgh 28-10. Does that mean this trend will hold up facing the Chiefs’ premier offense? Probably not.

Baltimore’s dealing with injuries that have almost become comical at this point. Not because someone got injured but because the bad luck just hasn’t seemed to go away. Down to their third-string running back and losing an offensive lineman in Tyre Philips vs the Raiders, the Ravens have such minimum room for error at certain positions.

If the Ravens lose in Week 2, it’ll be an uphill battle to get to the AFC playoffs but pump the brakes on them missing the playoffs altogether.

Chiefs vs. Ravens Betting Picks – NFL Week 2

Most of the public action is on Kansas City -3.5 and I tend to agree with them. Anything less than six points is an auto-bet for the Chiefs in nearly every scenario because outside of a road game in maybe Denver, it’s hard to justify betting against them. They trailed by 10 going into the second half vs the Browns and they erased that lead with ease (sound familiar?) Instead, I think O55.5 points is the best play. I think both teams will reconfigure their defenses and try to make sure this game isn’t a shootout because the Ravens know they can’t outscore the Chiefs, they have to try and contain them. Bonne Chance!
