New England Patriots running back Terrell Jennings rushed for 38 yards on six carries during Thursday's preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers. He also contributed in the passing game, hauling in both of his targets for a total of 11 yards. Jennings is a 23-year-old undrafted rookie out of Florida A&M. Despite his strong pro debut on Thursday, he faces an uphill battle to make the roster behind the likes of Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson, Kevin Harris, and JaMycal Hasty. He can be avoided in all fantasy formats.
New England Patriots running back Terrell Jennings (undisclosed) debuted at training camp on Sunday after passing his physical, and he was activated from the active/PUP list. The Patriots had previously placed Jennings on the PUP list, raising concerns about his chances of making the team. Jennings, 23, joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent following a rookie minicamp tryout. A Florida A&M alum, Jennings played 45 college games and accumulated 381 carries for 1,754 yards and 24 touchdowns. Antonio Gibson (undisclosed) also returned to camp on Sunday, marking the first time this preseason that all of New England's running backs are healthy. With Jennings and Gibson back, the Patriots running back group now includes six players: starter Rhamondre Stevenson, Kevin Harris, JaMycal Hasty, and Deshaun Fenwick. Jennings aims to secure a roster spot behind Stevenson and Gibson, giving him a slim to none chance of being fantasy-relevant anytime soon.
New England Patriots running back Terrell Jennings (undisclosed) was placed on the active/Physically Unable to Perform list on Friday. The 23-year-old signed with the Pats as an undrafted free agent. He appeared in 44 collegiate contests at Florida A&M, totaling 1,860 yards and 24 touchdowns off 383 carries. Jennings can practice once he's cleared to return. But even if he somehow makes the team, he's not expected to surpass Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson (among others) for touches, meaning he won't see much interest from fantasy managers.
The New England Patriots signed undrafted free-agent running back Terrell Jennings and released veteran ball carrier Ke'Shawn Vaughn on Monday, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss. Jennings rushed 120 times for 674 yards and nine touchdowns and caught seven passes for 60 yards in his final season at Florida A&M last year. The 225-pounder isn't on the fantasy radar yet, but he will have a shot to compete for a roster spot this offseason. Vaughn, who was a popular fantasy football sleeper after being selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, has a bleak future outlook following his release. In 43 games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 27-year-old rushed 103 times for 384 yards and two touchdowns. He's unlikely to become a fantasy-relevant back based on what he's produced so far, but he could stick around the NFL as a depth option for another organization.
