The Panthers held tough with Philly all afternoon, with RB Saquon Barkley's production the only of note out of the Eagles' skill players. Still, Gainwell was efficient with his touches, averaging 8.7 yards per carry against a porous Carolina rush defense. The 25-year-old will struggle to put together impressive stat lines while playing behind arguably the league's best running back. However, he remains an elite, must-own handcuff on one of the league's better offenses and would have immediate value and upside if Barkley ever missed time. Gainwell and the Eagles host the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday in Week 15.

Gainwell has no real weekly value at the moment, but it is evident that he is the clear-cut backup to Barkley and should be considered the handcuff in all fantasy formats.

Since Week 7, Gainwell is averaging 6.8 rush attempts, 31.4 yards on the ground, and one target in his appearances. He's been a solid change-of-pace option for the Eagles but holds little standalone value for fantasy managers outside of his obvious handcuff appeal. While his snap-share is decent, he has yet to score double-digit fantasy points or a touchdown in 2024. For now, he can be stashed in case Barkley is forced to miss time but is better off being left out of fantasy lineups. Gainwell is RotoBaller's PPR RB43 in this week's ranks.

This was the most involved the 25-year-old had been this season, with most coming in the final 10 minutes of the fourth quarter when most Eagles starters were pulled. Since the addition of Saquon Barkley, Gainwell has had just one game of more than two carries coming into this game. He also shared carries with rookie Will Shipley down the stretch of this game, and would likely be in a timeshare if anything ever happened to Barkley. He can be safely left on waivers in redraft leagues.
