The start of the NFL season is approaching fast. One way we know is because the sportsbooks have started to release their seasonal player prop numbers. At FTNFantasy, we have also released our 2023-2024 NFL projections. This means it is time to start looking for good betting opportunities. One player standing out right now is the Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.
Davante Adams Fantasy Outlook
The FTN Fantasy 2023-2024 projections for Davante Adams are eye-catching. Adams projects for the most receiving yards in the NFL this season. He is one of only three players with a projection over 1,400 yards (the other two are Justin Jefferson and Cooper Kupp). Adams projects for 95 catches on 152 targets. This is especially interesting, because that is a low catch percentage. This makes sense given the current state of the quarterback position in Las Vegas. After Derek Carr signed with the New Orleans Saints, the Raiders decided to bring in Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy G had some issues with his physical and may not even play a down for the silver and black. Brian Hoyer is currently on top of the depth chart if Garoppolo can’t go. His career completion percentage is below 60%, so it makes sense that Adams only projects to catch a tad over 60% of the balls thrown his way. It also makes the 1,463 yards he is projected for that much more impressive. And it leaves a ton of room for upside. If the Raiders make a QB move, or if Hoyer and Adams build some trust, he could easily outperform expectations.
Davante Adams Prop Bets
Davante Adams has multiple season-long prop bets that we can look to take advantage of. You can see them all by searching him in the FTN Bets Prop Shop. Adams has a receiving yardage prop of 1,325.5 yards at Caesars Sportsbook. FTN Fantasy projects him for more than 10% above that number, which makes this a playable edge. The -110 payout here is solid. Adams has topped 1,325 yards in four of the last five seasons. His only miss was 2019 where he played just 12 games and racked up 997 yards. He was on pace to top that prop number in 2019 on a per-game basis.
We have another betting opportunity for those looking to grab a higher payout. Adams projects for the most receiving yardage of any player on FTN Fantasy this season. Yet when we take a look at the current odds for most receiving yardage, Adams is anywhere from fifth to eigthh behind guys like Jefferson, Kupp, Ja’Marr Chase, Tyreek Hill, A.J. Brown and Stefon Diggs. Jefferson and Chase are the favorites at around 6-1 odds. Adams’ payout is 18-1 on DraftKings, which implies he only has a 5.5% chance to lead the league. The fact he is projected highest on FTN Fantasy means that percentage should be more than double where it sits right now. At 18-1, a bet on Davante Adams to lead the league in receiving yards is worth a wager.
