NFL DFS Injury Report: Super Bowl

Fortunately, there is not a rash of injuries that should hurt this year’s Super Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers have a clean injury report as far as anyone being listed as questionable while the Chiefs are only missing one key player for the offense and defense.

Super Bowl DFS Injury Report

Kansas City Chiefs 

Jerick McKinnon, Running Back (Questionable) 
Joe Thuney, Offensive Lineman (Out) 
Charles Omenihu, Defensive End (Out)

It appears Jerick McKinnon at least has some type of chance to make it back for the Super Bowl, although the Chiefs do have to activate him off the injured reserve. That means we should know that by Saturday. If he makes it back, McKinnon could be involved in the passing game, spelling Isiah Pacheco on passing downs. It would be tough to expect a lot from McKinnon, but it could hurt Clyde Edwards-Helaire just a bit for DFS. Regardless, we should expect Pacheco to shoulder a massive workload again.

Joe Thuney missed the AFC Championship game, and that probably contributed to Pacheco averaging under 3.0 yards per carry. It’s a tough time for any team to lose one of its best linemen, but other than Thuney, the offense might be as healthy as they have in a long while. Receiver Skyy Moore is off the injury report, but he hasn’t played since Week 15. Like McKinnon, it’s a lot to ask to walk back in and contribute. It’s not as though Moore did a whole lot of that anyway since he had just 21 receptions for 244 yards and one touchdown through 13 games this year. 

The Kansas City pass rush also took a hit with the loss of Charles Omenihu. He might not be a household name but he had seven sacks this season and was an important cog in the front line of the defense. 

Original Injury Report

It’s been a great season of NFL action, and we have arrived at the Super Bowl matchup after the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers both won on Sunday. These were two of the better teams all season long, and as of now, it appears the teams are going to be healthy heading into the game.

Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs 

Isiah Pacheco was listed as questionable heading into the AFC Championship game but handled a massive 28 touches. Perhaps the loss of offensive lineman Joe Thuney helped Pacheco only average 2.8 yards per carry on 24 attempts, but the workload was insane. There should be minimal concern about the lead back in Kansas City. 

Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers 

Much like Pacheco, there was legitimate concern for Deebo Samuel in the week leading up to the NFC Championship game, but those concerns were put to rest on Sunday. Samuel had 11 touches, including three rushing attempts. The shoulder injury must not be limiting him with that many touches.
