Tua Tagovailoa Opens The Week As Limited Participant

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (hip) is opening the week as a limited participant. Rapoport also noted that the team is currently approaching their Week 18 matchup against the New York Jets if Tyler Huntley was the starter quarterback. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Tagovailoa's status throughout the week. Since averaging a stellar 27.5 PPR points per game during Weeks 11 through 14, Tagovailoa has taken a step back in his two previous starts, averaging a mere 14.7 PPR points per game. If Tagovailoa were to turn to the corner in time to play on Sunday, he would be viewed as a risky QB1 facing a tougher New York Jets secondary.

Dolphins Approaching Week 18 With Tyler Huntley As The Starter

According to Alain Poupart of Sports Illustrated, the Miami Dolphins are approaching Week 18 with Tyler Huntley as the starting quarterback. Tua Tagovailoa (hip) did not suit up last weekend and is opening this week as a limited participant. In their victory over the Browns last Sunday, "Snoop" Huntley went 22-for-26 with 225 yards and a score. He added 52 yards and a score on the ground on seven rushing attempts. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Tagovailoa's status throughout the week. If Huntley were to be given another start, he should be viewed as a risky QB2 facing a New York Jets defense that has allowed the tenth-fewest PPR points to opposing QBs this season.

Dolphins Optimistic About Jaylen Waddle For Week 18

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said on Monday that he's optimistic on wide receiver Jaylen Waddle's (knee) status for the Week 18 regular-season finale this Sunday against the division-rival New York Jets. McDaniel said that Waddle was held out for the second straight game in the Week 17 win over the Cleveland Browns because of the risk of aggravation. Even if the 26-year-old pass-catcher is able to gain clearance to play this Sunday against the Jets, he could be taking passes from quarterback Tyler Huntley with Tua Tagovailoa (hip) up in the air to play. That would likely make Waddle a shaky WR4/flex, at best, for fantasy managers with a championship on the line. Waddle is having the worst season of his career in 2024 in his fourth year in the league with only 700 receiving yards and two TDs on 54 receptions. The former first-rounder had 1,000 yards in his first three seasons.

Tyler Huntley To Take More Reps Than Tua Tagovailoa This Week

According to Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, quarterback Tyler Huntley will get more practice repetitions than Tua Tagovailoa (hip) this week as the team prepares to face the division-rival New York Jets on the road in the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday in another must-win game. "I don't think it's a lock he plays this week. The hip was more banged up than people realize... It's fair to say his status [for Jets] is in question," ESPN's Adam Schefter said. As of right now, the 26-year-old is on the wrong side of questionable for Week 18 after he missed the Week 17 win over the Cleveland Browns. It will all depend on how Tua's body responds to practice reps this week, but fantasy managers in two-QB superflex leagues should plan on being without Tagovailoa this weekend. Huntley wasn't terrible in his fourth start in 2024 against the Browns, throwing for 225 yards and a TD while also adding 52 rushing yards and a score on the ground.

Malik Washington Puts Up 41 Receiving Yards In Week 17 Victory

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Malik Washington hauled in four receptions for 41 yards on five targets in Sunday's 20-3 win over the Cleveland Browns. He also lost 11 yards in his only rushing attempt. With fellow receiver Jaylen Waddle (knee) out in Week 17, Washington moved up in the pecking order and made the most of his five targets. Those five targets were second on the team to Tyreek Hill's nine. Washington has been coming on of late, earning four-plus targets in three straight games. The rookie receiver out of Virginia is showing that he belongs in the NFL, and he will look to keep that going next Sunday when the Dolphins travel to New York to take on the Jets. Washington remains a WR4 for Week 18 but is making the most of his opportunities. Washington has shown flashes of what he can do in the NFL, and he is becoming a nice bench stash in dynasty leagues.
