Matthew Stafford Seeking Reworked Contract

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is seeking a reworked deal that includes more guaranteed money, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapaport. The 36-year-old has three years left on his current deal, though the Rams have a potential out following the 2025 season. The four-year contract that he signed ahead of the 2022 season included $130 million in total guarantees. The Super Bowl-winning QB has been present at voluntary workouts this offseason and a holdout does not appear to be imminent, but this is a situation worth monitoring. After posting nearly 4,000 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions en route to a playoff berth in 2023, Stafford believes he has plenty left in the tank.

Ronnie Rivers Signs His Free-Agent Tender

Los Angeles Rams running back Ronnie Rivers and offensive lineman Alaric Jackson both signed their free-agent tender offers on Monday. Rivers will be heading into his third year with the Rams in 2024 after entering the NFL in 2022 with LA as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State. The 25-year-old had 32 carries last year for 129 yards and caught all five of his targets for 22 additional yards in nine regular-season games (one start) in his second year. Depending on what the Rams do in the upcoming NFL draft, Rivers could be battling with Zach Evans for the No. 2 backfield role in training camp this summer behind starter Kyren Williams. At best, Rivers will be a handcuff option in deeper leagues for fantasy managers that take Williams.

Davante Adams Plans To Remain In Vegas

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, while speaking at his youth football camp, made it known he plans to remain with the team. Things were chaotic for Las Vegas last season, with Adams expressing his unhappiness with his role in the offense. Not only that, the franchise fired head coach Josh McDaniels in October, resulting in Antonio Pierce taking over. But now that Pierce no longer has an interim tag attached to his name; there's optimism things will go much more smoothly this season. The 31-year-old is coming off a rough season, amassing 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns off 103 catches. Yet, it appears Adams is the happiest he's been in a while, meaning he could easily turn things around during the 2024-25 campaign and return to being an elite fantasy wideout, assuming the team gets stable play at the quarterback spot.

Stetson Bennett Expected To Participate In Offseason Activities

Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead said quarterback Stetson Bennett is working out in Dallas, and he is expected to join the team for offseason workouts in the coming months. The two-time National Champion at Georgia was selected in the fourth round of last year's NFL Draft, but he was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list on September 13 and did not play in any games. It's still unclear why he was away from the team during his rookie season, but the plan is for him to be back in 2024. That said, the Rams recently signed Jimmy Garoppolo to back up Matthew Stafford, so Bennett is unlikely to make an impact for Los Angeles or fantasy teams this year.

Rams Agree With Jimmy Garoppolo On One-Year Deal

The Los Angeles Rams agreed to terms with free-agent quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on an undisclosed one-year deal on Friday, according to sources. Following his disastrous year with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, Jimmy G is now set to join the Rams for one season as Matthew Stafford's backup. Garoppolo must first serve a two-games suspension to start the year for performance-enhancing drugs, but then he will be holding a clipboard on the sidelines with the Rams. The 32-year-old signal-caller played in seven games with the Raiders last year before getting hurt and eventually benched for rookie Aidan O'Connell, going 110-for-169 for 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions. Pretty much all of the fantasy value that Jimmy G had going into last season is now gone.
