Jakobi Meyers Absent During Thursday's Practice

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (ankle) didn't suit up for Thursday's practice session. Meyers was limited on Wednesday, but didn't practice at all on Thursday. It's possible that it was a rest day for Meyers, but that was not confirmed. This doesn't look good considering Meyers hasn't played in two weeks due to this ankle issue. The Raiders could desperately use Meyers with Davante Adams no longer with the team. If healthy, Meyers is the No. 1 option in the passing game and could carve out WR3 value against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8.

Jakobi Meyers Returning To Practice

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said that wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (ankle), who has missed the last two games due to an ankle injury, will return to practice on Wednesday. Meyers will likely be limited as he returns to practice, but it's improvement and could allow him to return to the field on game day this Sunday against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. If the 27-year-old is able to get the green light to return this weekend, he'll most likely operate as the WR1 for quarterback Gardner Minshew II, who will be taking over the starting role under center again now that Aidan O'Connell (thumb) is on Injured Reserve. Although the Raiders could be forced to throw plenty against KC, Meyers will be a shaky WR4/flex in deeper fantasy leagues, at best, if he plays in Week 8. In five games in 2024, he has 25 catches (36 targets) for 273 yards and a touchdown.UPDATE: Meyers was limited on Wednesday.

Raiders Sign Terrace Marshall Jr.

The Las Vegas Raiders signed free-agent wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday. Marshall was waived by the Carolina Panthers at the end of training camp and then latched on with the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad before being released last week. The 24-year-old former second-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2021 out of LSU caught 64 of 110 targets for 767 yards and just one touchdown in 36 games (16 starts) in his first three years in the league. Marshall will now head to Vegas to serve as receiver depth for a team in freefall after just trading All-Pro wideout Davante Adams to the New York Jets. Right now, Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker and DJ Turner are the Raiders' top three wideouts, with Tyreik McAllister and Alex Bachman further down the depth chart. Marshall can continue to be ignored in fantasy.

Raiders Add Desmond Ridder To Practice Squad

The Las Vegas Raiders signed quarterback Desmond Ridder off of the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad on Monday, according to sources. Ridder will give the Raiders extra QB depth after the team placed Aidan O'Connell (thumb) on Injured Reserve after he fractured his right thumb in the Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. O'Connell is expected to miss four to six weeks with his injury. Ridder, the former third-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2022 out of Cincinnati, did not see the field at all in Arizona and is coming off a 2023 campaign in Atlanta that saw him throw for 2,836 yards with 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 64.2% of his pass attempts. For now, he'll serve as Gardner Minshew II's backup with the Raiders. If he's forced into action, Ridder will be a desperation QB2, at best, in superflex formats.

Alexander Mattison Much More Efficient In Week 7

Las Vegas Raiders running back Alexander Mattison was much more efficient than usual in Week 7 in the 15-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Mattison rushed 23 times for 92 yards and caught all three of his targets for 31 yards, giving him 15.3 PPR fantasy points on the day. He took the vast majority of the RB workload. The sixth-year pro was much more involved in the offense than fellow RB Zamir White (groin) who was in his first game back from injury. It appears that the former Minnesota Viking could dominate RB touches in the future, but he also averaged under three yards per carry in four games this season. The Rams defense is also very weak, so the matchup was soft. The Raiders will face the Kansas City Chiefs and their formidable run defense in Week 8. Mattison is a risky FLEX option in deeper leagues. Las Vegas' depleted offense could have difficulty doing much of anything.
