It can be hard to prep for fantasy football during training camp and the preseason. Things happen every day that might be a huge deal for fantasy … or might be no deal at all.

Sometimes we can figure it out, but sometimes it’s just a matter of paying attention to what happens to know what might matter just so things don’t slip through the cracks.

So each day in this space, we’ll take a trip through the top news and takeaways around the league’s training camps to offer up what fantasy managers need to know as we head through draft season and into the 2023 NFL regular season.

Jonathan Taylor Granted Permission to Seek a Trade

The Colts apparently want a first-round pick or a package of picks that equates to a first-rounder for Jonathan Taylor. This is similar to what the Panthers got in exchange for Christian McCaffrey last year.

Top teams to keep an eye on:

  • Miami Dolphins
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • Buffalo Bills
  • Los Angeles Rams

Josh Jacobs Expected Back Before Week 1

Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Vincent Bonsignore says the “growing sense” is that Josh Jacobs will be back before Week 1.

Jacobs’ ADP has slipped into the third round, but it hasn’t continued its slide. If and when he returns, expect him to shoot back up the middle of Round 2.

Terry McLaurin Injures Foot

Washington WR Terry McLaurin suffered a toe sprain — reportedly turf toe — in Monday’s preseason game.

While this doesn’t appear likely to sideline McLaurin for an long time, turf toe has been known to linger throughout entire seasons — especially for WRs. With Jahan Dotson impressing this preseason, combined with this injury, McLaurin may slip down some draft boards.

Joe Burrow Looking Good for Week 1

Joe Burrow’s calf injury is healing well:

It all seems like he’ll be back for Week 1.

De’Von Achane Is Week-to-Week

Miami rookie RB De’Von Achane avoided a major shoulder injury, so he’ll play his rookie season, but he is week-to-week as of now, which makes him iffy for Week 1. He’ll slide down draft boards.

Isiah Pacheco Cleared for Contact

Andy Reid says there’s a chance Kansas City RB Isiah Pacheco will play in the team’s final preseason game. Up until now, Pacheco either had not been practicing or had been practicing with a non-contact jersey.
