Mack was the Colts’ No. 1 back in 2018-2019, running for 908 and 1,091 yards in the two years and finished as the PPR RB21 (2018) and RB22 (2019). He was expected to split time with Nyheim Hines and rookie Jonathan Taylor in 2020, but he tore his Achilles in Week 1 and was lost for the year.

Colts bring back RB Marlon Mack

Fantasy slant: Mack tore his Achilles in the first quarter of Week 1 last season, so we didn’t have the chance to see this backfield situation play out. Mack and Hines split the backfield work evenly with seven touches a piece before his exit in Week 1. Taylor was on the outside looking in during this small sample size with zero touches. At first glance, Mack’s return to the Colts is more worrisome for backup Jordan Wilkins than stretch-run stud Jonathan Taylor. In Weeks 11-17, Taylor was the RB3 in fantasy points per game (24.3, PPR). Taylor likely retains his lead back role with Hines and Mack factoring in. Rehabbing from an Achilles tear is no easy task, so for now, Mack is nothing more than a late-round best-ball dart. – Derek Brown
