BREAKING NEWS: Texans sign RB Mark Ingram

Share

The Houston Texans reportedly signed ex-Ravens and Saints running back Mark Ingram to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Ingram signed a three-year deal with the Ravens before the 2019 season. He had 1,018 yards in his first season with the team, but injury and the emergence of J.K. Dobbins limited Ingram to 299 rushing yards and 2 scores in 2020, and he was a healthy scratch in Weeks 15 and 16 before being waived in January.

Fantasy slant: Apparently, old running backs are Houston's type. Ingram and David Johnson have spent a combined 60 years on this planet. While experience can be a benefit in many career paths, running back is not one of them. However, given the meager contract Houston gave to Ingram, it's unlikely he has much of a role (if any) in 2021. While he's just over a year removed from a top-10 fantasy season, Ingram showed very little in 2020. For fantasy purposes, there's nothing to see here. — Jeff Ratcliffe
