Washington Wizards guard Jordan Poole (elbow) is considered doubtful for Wednesday's clash against the Utah Jazz. The 2022 NBA champion has sustained an elbow contusion and may be absent for the ninth time this season. Marcus Smart (illness) and Malcolm Brogdon (ankle) have already been ruled out for Wednesday, leaving the Wizards potentially very thin in the backcourt. AJ Johnson, Bub Carrington, Colby Jones, and Jaylen Martin all received plenty of burn on Monday against the Portland Trail Blazers and look set to be heavily involved again in Wednesday's contest.

Washington Wizards guard/forwardCorey Kispert(thumb) will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after undergoing successful surgery on his left thumb Tuesday. The 26-year-old is expected to be ready for the start of next season after suffering a ligament tear in his left thumb Saturday against Denver. Kispert made 61 appearances for the Wizards in the 2024-25 campaign, posting averages of 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists across 26.3 minutes per contest. Bub CarringtonandAJ Johnsonlook set to receive more playing time with Kispert on the shelf.

Washington Wizards guard/forward Corey Kispert (thumb) will be sidelined for at least two games. After injuring his left thumb during Saturday's defeat against the Denver Nuggets, Kispert has returned to Washington for an examination by team doctors. The Wizards will finish a seven-game road trip this week, facing the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night before heading to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Bub Carrington and AJ Johnson look set to receive more playing time off the bench with Kispert out.

Washington Wizards guard Marcus Smart (illness) will not return to the lineup on Monday against the Portland Trail Blazers. There was initially hope that he could be back after missing one game due to an illness, but the team has downgraded Smart's status from questionable to out. Fellow veterans Malcolm Brogdon (ankle) and Corey Kispert (thumb) are also sidelined for Monday's game, putting rookies Kyshawn George, Bub Carrington, and AJ Johnson in a position to eat up as many minutes as they can.

Washington Wizards guard Marcus Smart (illness) remains on the injury report for a non-COVID illness and is considered questionable for Monday's matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers. The former Defensive Player of the Year was forced to miss the last game against the Denver Nuggets, but may only have to face a one-game absence. If he remains sidelined, however, Bub Carrington should see some added minutes off of the bench while AJ Johnson will likely get some added opportunities as well. Carrington has enjoyed the best month of his season with averages of 11.3 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game in March.
