With three games on Thursday’s slate, let’s get into some of the Multiplier value plays over on SuperDraft.
Guard
Jordan Poole, Golden State Warriors (1.45x score multiplier) – To the surprise of no one who paid attention to the Warriors preseason games, Poole played a big role for Golden State in the opening night win against the Lakers. The third-year guard put up a massive 18 shots in his 25 minutes and would have had a bigger night statistically if Damion Lee hadn’t gotten the closing minutes over him. I don’t think Lee playing the entire fourth quarter is something we see every game going forward, which could mean extra run for Poole against the Clippers tonight. There are few options on the slate with the same combination of usage upside and high multiplier, so consider Poole especially in lineups where you don’t roster Stephen Curry.
Reggie Jackson, Los Angeles Clippers (1.6x) – One of the only other options standing out at a multiplier higher than Poole’s is Jackson, fresh off his head-turning playoff performance. With Kawhi Leonard expected to be out for the majority of the regular season, there will be a lot of eyes on the Clippers rotation and usage early. New acquisition Eric Bledsoe is expected to share the starting backcourt with Jackson to begin the year, and while Bledsoe is an interesting play in his own right, the higher multiplier for Jackson makes him the more interesting value play on Thursday’s SuperDraft slate.
Forward
Paul George, Los Angeles Clippers (1.2x) – The Clippers value theme continues here with Paul George, who is sitting slightly off the floor multiplier. For me that’s enough to make him a “value” compared to the other stud plays available. As mentioned above, this rotation without Kawhi Leonard will be in flux to begin the season, and you’d have to assume George will take over the reins on offense. George has been the second fiddle to Leonard since they joined forces in Los Angeles two seasons ago, but we should expect an uptick in his fantasy production now as the lead dog. Prior to joining the Clippers, George finished third in MVP voting during his second and final season in Oklahoma City. While I don’t think the Clippers will be good enough this season for George to win MVP, I would not be surprised to see a similar statistical output for the 12-year veteran swingman. If he approaches that type of production, a 1.2x multiplier is a steal.
Kristaps Porzingis, Dallas Mavericks (1.3x) – The Mavericks faithful have been relatively disappointed with the outcome thus far of trading for the big Latvian forward three seasons ago. Training camp is the time when everyone is reported to be “in the best shape of their lives” and ready to make a big leap. But the fluff pieces out of Dallas were backed up by some impressive play in the preseason games from Porzingis, who averaged 13 points, six rebounds and three assists in just over 19 minutes per game across three appearances. It’s a small sample size and preseason is not the best measurement for how an 82-game regular season will play out. However, those numbers would be a significant increase in his fantasy production and at a 1.3x multiplier I’m willing to find out if a Porzingis resurgence is upon us.

Center
Ivica Zubac, Los Angeles Clippers (1.6x) – Unsurprisingly, more Clippers talk to close out our Thursday plays. While there are safer and more highly projected plays at the center position, Zubac possesses the top multiplier out of the six expected starting centers on the slate. The Warriors aren’t exactly the best matchup for a player like Zubac, but with Serge Ibaka still out with back issues, there’s certainly a possibility Zubac could get into the upper 20s in terms of minutes here. You may feel more comfortable rostering a center like Bam Adebayo or Clint Capela, but if you are stacking low multipliers at guard and forward, I don’t hate taking a value shot on the Clippers man in the middle.
