Thairo Estrada Out Of Lineup On Saturday

San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada is out of the lineup on Saturday night for the Giants' tilt against the New York Yankees. Brett Wisely will start in his place. This appears to be a mix of a rest day for Estrada while also getting Wisely, a lefty, in a nice platoon matchup against Yankees right-hander Cody Poteet. Estrada had a solid May, hitting for a .731 OPS during the month. Fantasy managers shouldn't worry about Estrada's status going forward while DFS managers may want to take a peek at Wisely for Saturday night as the lefty is hitting for an .845 OPS and six RBI in 29 PA so far this season.

Mark Canha Remains Sidelined On Saturday

Detroit Tigers outfielder Mark Canha (hip) remains out of the starting lineup again on Saturday. The 35-year-old was a late scratch on Friday and will once again be sitting out due to hip discomfort. Chris McCosky reports that there is no inclination that Canha will not go on the injured list and that the team will wait until how his hip holds up for the time being. Rookie Colt Keith will slot in as the designated hitter and bat fifth this afternoon, which opens up the keystone for Zach McKinstry, who will bat in the seven-hole. Keith is worth a look in DFS as he has posted a strong .378 AVG with two home runs in his past eleven games. He will face Red Sox right-hander Cooper Criswell who enters Saturday with a 4.19 ERA.

Robbie Ray To Pitch In ACL Game Next Week

San Francisco Giants left-hander Robbie Ray (elbow) will pitch in an Arizona Complex League game next week as part of his rehab from Tommy John surgery in May of last year. Ray threw live batting practice last weekend after he initially started throwing bullpen sessions during spring training. Slowly but surely, Ray has worked his way back to pitching in games, although he still has a ways to go and probably isn't going to be an option for the Giants' starting rotation until after the All-Star break in mid-July. The 32-year-old southpaw, a former 12th-round pick by the Washington Nationals in 2010, was the American League Cy Young in 2021 with the Toronto Blue Jays and has racked up five 200-strikeout seasons in his 10 MLB seasons. Ray could be even more erratic when he returns in 2024, but the strikeout upside alone makes him worth rostering in most fantasy leagues.

Michael Conforto, Nick Ahmed Starting Rehab Assignments

San Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Conforto (hamstring) is starting a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Sacramento, and shortstop Nick Ahmed (wrist) will join him in Sacramento on Saturday. Both Conforto and Ahmed could rejoin the Giants early next week if they get through their rehab assignments this weekend without any setbacks. Conforto was hitting a solid .280 (40-for-143) with seven home runs and 20 RBI before he suffered a right-hamstring strain on May 11 against the Cincinnati Reds. Conforto will be a lineup regular for the Giants when he returns. Ahmed, meanwhile, was the regular shortstop in San Fran before spraining his left wrist against the Braves on May 9. The 34-year-old vet is more of a defensive asset and was hitting a mere .236 with 11 RBI on the year before his injury.

Marco Luciano Placed On Injured List

San Francisco Giants shortstop Marco Luciano (hamstring) has been placed on the injured list, retroactive to May 30. The 22-year-old sufferd a right hamstring strain during Wednesday's game. At the moment it's unclear how long Luciano is going to be sidelined. In a corresponding move, Casey Schmitt has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. The expectation is that Schmitt and Brett Wisely will see increased playing time with Luciano sidelined.
