2024 Team Stats

San Francisco Giants shortstop prospect Marco Luciano continued his power surge for Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday. MLB Pipeline's No. 73 prospect went 2-for-4 with a walk and home run, marking his sixth homer in the last 19 games. For the season, Luciano is now hitting .243 with eight homers and 36 RBI. The 22-year-old suited up at second base in this contest and gaining versatility could help him get more opportunities at the big-league level. Luciano has had an interesting year with getting a cup of coffee with the Giants earlier in the season and dealing with a hamstring injury that has limited his playing time this season. As one of the top prospects at the shortstop position, the Giants would be wise to give Luciano another chance before the season wraps up. For now, his most value is in dynasty leagues.

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Hayden Birdsong has been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday. Birdsong was fantastic on the mound during a spot start against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. He struck out eight batters over five shutout innings of work in the win. He holds a 2.97 ERA and 38/15 K/BB ratio across 30 1/2 innings in the big leagues. It shouldn't be too long before we see Birdsong in the majors again.

The New York Yankees are one of six teams that have inquired about the availability of San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Blake Snell. The reigning NL Cy Young winner has already hit the IL twice this season, making just 10 starts so far, but is coming off of a start on Saturday in which he went six innings, allowing no runs on just two hits and two walks while striking out a career-high 15 batters. The Giants may not be sellers, however, as they have won four of their last five games and sit just 4.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. The Yankees on the other hand have already made a splash in the trade market, acquiring outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Marlins on Saturday.

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman homered among his three hits Saturday. The Giants won the first game of a doubleheader with the Colorado Rockies by a score of 4-1. The home run was his 15th on the season. The veteran has also chipped in with a .237 batting average, 46 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 71 runs scored this season. Chapman continues to be one of the best third basemen in the game, both in real baseball and fantasy baseball.

San Francisco Giants left-hander Blake Snell set a career-high in strikeouts Saturday, whiffing 15 Colorado Rockies in six innings in a no-decision. The Giants won the game 4-1. Snell surrendered two hits and two walks and gave up zero runs. After a tough start to the year, Snell has a 3.00 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 36 innings. Snell is one of the more interesting names in the rumor mill as we near the trade deadline. Should he remain with San Francisco, his next start will come next weekend in Cincinnati.
