Jung Hoo Lee Sitting Against A Lefty

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is out of the team's starting lineup with a left-hander on the mound on Thursday against the division-rival Colorado Rockies. With Lee getting a day off against a southpaw, Luis Matos will make the start in center field and will hit sixth against Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland. Lee has been outstanding for the Giants through the first month of the 2025 season and is currently in the midst of a modest seven-game hitting streak in which he's gone 9-for-27 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored in 29 plate appearances. Overall, the Japanese outfielder has a strong .319/.375/.526 slash line with a .901 OPS, three homers, 18 RBI, 23 runs, three stolen bases, a league-leading 11 doubles and 11 walks in 30 games. Matos is hitting .158 (6-for-38) with a homer and has hit .333 in just six career at-bats against Freeland.

Giants Place Tyler Fitzgerald On 10-Day Injured List With Rib Fracture

The San Francisco Giants announced on Thursday that they placed middle infielder Tyler Fitzgerald (rib) on the 10-day injured list with a left-rib fracture and recalled infielder Brett Wisely from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Fitzgerald missed some time last weekend due to a chest injury but was able to return to action for a two-game series in San Diego against the Padres on Tuesday and Wednesday. Apparently he's still hurt and will most likely miss more than 10 days with a rib fracture. The 27-year-old had been productive in his first 81 at-bats of the year, hitting .284 with two home runs, seven RBI, five steals and 14 runs scored. MLB.com's Justice delos Santos doesn't think it would be shocking to see Christian Koss get the majority of the starts at second base for the Giants while Fitzgerald is sidelined. Koss is 5-for-23 with no homers and an RBI in his first 12 big-league games this year.

Thairo Estrada Doing Baseball Activities

Colorado Rockies infielder Thairo Estrada (wrist) is doing fielding drills and light swinging of the bat, according to manager Bud Black. Estrada remains on the 60-day injured list (retroactive to March 24) after fracturing his right wrist in spring training, and there is no specific timetable for his return. At the very least, Estrada will remain on the shelf until late May, and it might not be until June when we see him make his 2025 debut. The 29-year-old Venezuelan infielder will eventually need to go on a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining the Rockies' big-league roster. When healthy, he's expected to be Colorado's primary second baseman despite hitting .217/.247/.343 with nine homers and 47 RBI in 96 games for the Giants in 2024 before being cut. Estrada had 28 homers, 44 steals and 111 RBI in 2022-23 in San Fran and has enough contact skills to be a waiver-wire sleeper in deeper fantasy leagues when he's back.

Tyler Fitzgerald Returning To Starting Nine

San Francisco Giants infielder/outfielder Tyler Fitzgerald (chest) is returning to the starting nine on Tuesday when they face the San Diego Padres. The 27-year-old has been held out of the starting lineup for the past two games due to this minor injury. However, Fitzgerald will be making a quick return to the lineup. This evening, he will cover the keystone and bat in the nine-hole. Before his injury, Fitzgerald had not tallied a hit in each of his past two games. However, before this minor skid, the 27-year-old held an impressive .391/.429/.630 slash line with three doubles, two home runs, and seven RBI over his last 14 contests. Even though he has enjoyed a productive start to the campaign, he has generated a low .257 xwOBA, which is well below the average marks. He is best to fade this evening in DFS facing San Diego right-hander Nick Pivetta.

Tyler Fitzgerald To Miss Second Straight Game

San Francisco Giants second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers. The 27-year-old was scratched on Saturday with a chest contusion that he suffered making a diving play on a grounder the night before and will now miss his second straight contest. Fantasy managers should still consider the right-handed hitter day-to-day. Christian Koss will fill in at second base and bat ninth on Sunday. Koss went 1-for-3 with a run scored on Saturday against the Rangers and will face RHP Jack Leiter on Sunday.
