Tyler Fitzgerald Falls Single Shy Of Cycle Monday

San Francisco Giants second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald got the hard parts done but could not hit for the cycle in Monday's 10-4 win over the Phillies. Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a three-run home run, and a strikeout. The 27-year-old took a second-inning Taijuan Walker cutter over the left-field wall for his first long ball of the season. Fitzgerald has continued to flash the power-speed combo that garnered fantasy attention in 2024, slashing .286/.333/.476 with four RBI and four stolen bases in 47 plate appearances. He has also cut down on the strikeouts, posting a 21.3% strikeout rate after striking out at a poor 31.7% clip in 2024. He has hit at the bottom of the lineup, but the Giants have gotten off to a hot start, helping boost Fitzgerald's fantasy appeal in at least all roto leagues.

Tyler Fitzgerald Set To Make Spring Debut On Friday

San Francisco Giants infielder Tyler Fitzgerald (back) will make his spring training debut against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Fitzgerald has been brought along slowly after suffering a back injury early in camp. Luckily, it wasn't a major issue and it looks like Fitzgerald is going to be fine going forward. The expectation is that Fitzgerald is going to be the primary option at second base to begin the season. He slashed .280/.334/.497 with 15 home runs and 34 RBI across 96 games with the Giants last season. He'll be someone to keep an eye on his fantasy leagues, assuming he's able to keep up that kind of production.

Tyler Fitzgerald Fully Cleared From Back Injury

San Francisco Giants infielder/outfielder Tyler Fitzgerald (back) has been cleared to participate fully in baseball activities and is expected to play in games during the weekend. Fitzgerald has been limited with a lower-back injury during the early part of camp. However, seeing him return to full activities suggests he will not face any restrictions by Opening Day. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he begins to increase his workload in case he faces a setback. After appearing in just 10 MLB contests during the 2023 campaign, Fitzgerald logged a career-high 96 games in 2024. The 27-year-old performed well as he held a .280/.334/.497 slash line with 19 doubles, 15 home runs, and 17 stolen bases. However, he generated a low .227 xBA, suggesting he may face some regression. When healthy, he should see most of his time at second base but may be given occasional starts in the outfield.
