Cincinnati is now batting .209 as a team through 36 games, which is the worst mark in all of baseball.

Montgomery signed a one-year, $25 million contract late into the offseason with the Diamondbacks. In his final tune-up with Triple-A Reno, Montgomery was torched for seven runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out six over 3 2/3 innings. The 31-year-old will join Arizona's rotation next week and likely replace Tommy Henry or Ryne Nelson. Montgomery was solid for the Rangers/Cardinals in 2023, posting a 3.20 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 166:48 K: BB across 188 2/3 innings.

It was a career year for the 6-foot-6 hurler in 2023 as he tossed a 3.20 ERA in 32 starts between the Cardinals and Rangers, including a 2.79 ERA across 11 starts with the Rangers following a trade-deadline swap with St. Louis. He also tossed a 2.90 ERA in six outings (five starts) in the postseason en route to a World Series title. He has been the model of consistency and is an upper-tier fantasy starter for the 2024 campaign.
