Miami Marlins outfielder Jesus Sanchez smacked the longest homer of the 2024 season, his 13th on the campaign. The home run was a solo homer that landed at the top of the upper deck of Marlins Park in right-center field and traveled 480 feet at 116.4 mph. After the trade of Jazz Chisholm, Sanchez has been entrenched into the No. 3 spot in the lineup daily. The 26-year-old is slashing .241/.289/.414 with 13 home runs, 43 RBI, and eight stolen bases over 103 games in 2024. Sanchez produces enough to be rostered in 15-plus team leagues but will need to hit more to be added in standard 12-team formats.
Miami Marlins outfielder Jesus Sanchez provided some pop in his team's 6-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored to help power his team to the win. The veteran took Baltimore starter Albert Suarez deep in the second inning, a blast that traveled 429 feet with an exit velocity of 114.7 MPH. Sanchez is now hitting .248 with 12 homers, 31 runs, 38 RBI, and six steals across 290 at-bats. He has been swinging a hot bat of late, hitting .327 with four homers and eight RBI over his past 15 contests.
Miami Marlins outfielder Jesus Sanchez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the New York Mets with southpaw David Peterson starting. Sanchez has struggled against left-handed pitching this year, hitting just .135 (7-for-52) with one double and one home run, so his absence from the lineup makes sense. Bryan De La Cruz will take his spot in right field, while Josh Bell will start as the designated hitter, and Otto Lopez will make his first start in left field. With a right-hander on the mound for the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, Sanchez should be back in the lineup.
The Miami Herald's Craig Mish writes that the Miami Marlins are unlikely to trade outfielders Jesus Sanchez and Bryan De La Cruz by the July 30 trade deadline this summer. The Marlins could very well trade outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. and left-hander Jesus Luzard (back), but not before Luzardo is healthy. Both Sanchez and De La Cruz are under contract through the 2027 season, making them attractive to contenders looking for extra years of control. It's also what makes them worth keeping for the struggling Marlins, though. Sanchez has been a below-average hitter with a .687 OPS, .239 average (61-for-255) with nine homers and a career-high six stolen bases, while De La Cruz has shown slightly more power with 15 long balls and 42 RBI while posting a .696 OPS and .237 average (84-for-354).
Both Miami Marlins first baseman Josh Bell and outfielder Jesus Sanchez will retreat to the bench on Saturday with the visiting Chicago White throwing a left-hander. Jake Burger will start at first base and bat third, while Dane Myers will draw into right field and serve as the cleanup hitter against White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet, who has been one of the best starters in baseball in the first half. Emmanuel Rivera also draws into the lineup at third base while batting fifth for the Fish. Bell has hit only .216 (24-for-111) with three of his eight homers this year against southpaws, while Sanchez has been even worse against lefties with a .093 average (4-for-43) with one of his nine long balls. Both left-handed hitters have decent power from the left side but have been below-average hitters for fantasy managers in 2024.
