Marlins Place Max Meyer on 15-Day Injured List With Hip Impingement

The Miami Marlins placed right-hander Max Meyer (hip) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with a left-hip impingement and recalled right-hander George Soriano from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move. It remains to be seen if Meyer will be ready to come off the IL when he's eligible in a few weeks on June 18. The 26-year-old continues to be held back by injuries, but hopefully this one won't keep him out for too long. Meyer allowed 10 earned runs in his first two starts combined to begin the month of May and allowed four earned runs in each of his last two starts, including a disappointing loss to the lowly Colorado Rockies on Monday. Overall in 2025, the former third overall pick in 2020 from Minnesota has gone 3-5 with a 4.73 ERA (4.41 FIP) and 1.42 WHIP with 68 strikeouts and 20 walks in 64 2/3 innings over 12 starts.

Max Meyer Allows 10 Hits in Monday's Loss

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Max Meyer was unable to capitalize on a favorable matchup in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Rockies. Meyer pitched five innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on 10 hits (including two home runs) and a walk with five strikeouts. The 26-year-old started the season off strong but has been mostly disappointing over the last month. He is now 3-5 with a 4.73 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, a 9.46 K/9 rate, and a 1.57 HR/9 rate in 12 starts and 64 2/3 IP. His next start will be a middling one at the Rays, although fantasy managers may want to avoid starting him, given how he pitched against one of baseball's weakest lineups.

Max Meyer Records 14 Strikeouts

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Max Meyer posted an unbelievable performance during Monday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. The right-hander had his swing-and-miss stuff going as the Reds could barely touch him during this outing. Meyer tossed six scoreless innings, allowing five hits, and striking out 14 batters along the way. The 26-year-old already registered double digit strikeouts by the fourth inning of Monday's contest. Meyer has been excellent early in the season with three earned runs or less in every outing so far. He'll take a 2.10 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 41/7 K/BB ratio across five starts into his next outing against the Seattle Mariners. Meyer is likely going to be a popular waiver wire addition after this epic performance.
