After missing the entire 2022 season due to stress fractures in his back, Canning returned in 2023 to work to a 4.32 ERA across 24 appearances (22 starts) while posting a quality 19.2% K-BB% in his career-high 127 innings of work. It was certainly an encouraging return from injury for Canning as he should see an increase in workload this time around. ATC projects a 4.16 ERA and a 17.9% K-BB% across 25 starts for the 27-year-old in 2024, numbers that would serve fantasy managers well as a mid-round pick.

He is an intriguing fantasy option heading toward 2024 with ATC projecting 25 starts of 4.16 ERA ball along with another stellar 17.9% K-BB%. He is worth the investment at his 284.2 ADP, if not sooner.
