According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of SportsNet, left-handed pitcher Amir Garrett signed a minor-league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. This deal includes an invitation to spring training. Last summer, Garrett spent most of the season at the Triple-A level. He logged just five 1/3 innings in the majors and held a hefty 5.06 ERA. In 33 2/3 innings at Triple-A, Garrett posted a 5.08 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP. He tallied 43 punchouts and served up 16 free passes. During the 2023 campaign, Garrett held a 3.33 ERA and a 1.73 across 24 1/3 innings in the majors. Fantasy managers should expect Garrett to compete for a bullpen role during spring training. However, given his lack of recent MLB experience and success, fantasy managers should expect the 32-year-old to open the campaign at Triple-A.

The Los Angeles Angeles signed free-agent left-hander Amir Garrett to a minor-league deal on Wednesday. Garrett was with the San Francisco Giants during spring training but was cut. The 31-year-old veteran southpaw reliever will now land with the Angels and will hope to eventually be called up to the big leagues. The former 22nd-round pick by the Cincinnati Reds in 2011 made 27 relief appearances for the Kansas City Royals last year and had a 3.33 ERA (5.56 FIP) and 1.73 WHIP with 20 walks and 28 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings. Garrett has been able to strikeout plenty in his seven major-league seasons with a 10.4 K/9 in 325 1/3 innings, but he's also walked 5.2 hitters per nine innings. He remains well off the fantasy radar.

Free-agent reliever Amir Garrett agreed to a minor-league deal with the San Francisco Giants on Monday, according to sources. The deal includes an invitation to major-league spring training and would pay him $1.35 million if he's in the majors. The 31-year-old left-hander spent last season with the Kansas City Royals, where he posted a 3.33 ERA (5.56 FIP) and 1.73 WHIP with 20 walks and 28 strikeouts in 24 1/3 relief innings. Garrett does have an above-average 26.4 percent career strikeout rate in 325 1/3 career innings at the major-league level, but it's also come with an underwhelming 4.95 ERA (4.92 FIP) and 1.44 WHIP with eight saves over seven seasons with the Royals and Cincinnati Reds. He won't be on the fantasy radar in 2024, even if he makes San Fran's Opening Day roster.
