Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Reid Detmers delivered another solid performance in Monday's 6-2 win over the Twins. Detmers pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits (including a solo home run) and two walks with eight strikeouts. The 25-year-old was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on September 3 and has allowed four runs in 12 IP with 18 strikeouts in his two starts back. Detmers has shown fantasy promise at times throughout his career but has also been very inconsistent. Fantasy managers may not be willing to trust him, but his next start could be an excellent one against the White Sox. Given the strong matchup and recent performance, he may be worth a fantasy start consideration if he were to make the start.
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Reid Detmers is set to be promoted from Triple-A Salt Lake according to Russell Dorsey of Yahoo Sports. Detmers made 12 starts at the major league level this summer but struggled with a 6.14 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP through 63 innings of work. At Triple-A this season, the southpaw has been on an impressive run as he sits with a stellar 1.29 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP across his past three outings. Overall, in 78 frames at Triple-A, the former first-round selection has held a 5.54 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. Deeper league managers should consider taking a flier on Detmers as he has flashed a high upside at times, but should be careful when deploying him because he has struggled to maintain consistency throughout his professional career.
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Reid Detmers tossed a gem in his most recent outing at Triple-A and could be on his way back to the major leagues. In this start, the southpaw logged eight innings of one-run ball while striking out 11 batters. He allowed just three hits and two free passes. This was the third time he hit the double-digit mark in punchouts at Triple-A this summer. Detmers opened the season in the big leagues but was demoted to Salt Lake in June after carrying a 6.14 ERA through the opening months of the campaign. While his production at Triple-A has not been much better, this start is an excellent way for the 25-year-old to build some momentum. For now, he should remain on all waiver wires but could be an interesting stash candidate in deeper leagues if he continues to find his stride at Triple-A.
