New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the injured list on Monday. The 34-year-old has been out since late June due to a left hamstring strain. Before that, Stanton was slashing .246/.302/.492 with 18 home runs and 45 RBI in 69 games this season. The Yankees don't believe Stanton will require a rehab stint and can get back in the lineup early next week. He'll face live pitching over the weekend, so fantasy managers should get a better idea after that. For now, fantasy managers should expect Stanton to return on Monday.
There are still no decisions on when New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) will be able to come off the 10-day injured list, but he was doing more work on the field at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday before the finale to the Subway Series against the visiting New York Mets. "I think he's feeling towards the end of it," manager Aaron Boone said. The skipper didn't rule Stanton out for the series at Fenway Park this weekend against the division-rival Boston Red Sox but also said he's not necessarily expecting that. It doesn't sound like the Yankees expect the 34-year-old right-handed slugger to rejoin them this weekend, but barring a setback, Stanton should be back in the Yankees' lineup sometime next week. When he does return, Aaron Judge will move back to center field, in turn pushing Trent Grisham back to a bench role.
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) said a decision most likely will be made by the end of next week on when he can return to the field. Manager Aaron Boone thinks it's a matter of building stamina daily. It's still unclear if Stanton will go on a minor-league rehab assignment or join the Yankees immediately after he's activated from the 10-day injured list. Last year, Stanton played in just one rehab game before returning to the majors. He resumed treadmill activities on June 27 and "did quite a bit of running" on July 9. Stanton strained his left hamstring while running the bases on June 22 and was told to expect a four-week stint on the IL. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection on June 23. It's the 34-year-old slugger's eighth trip to the IL in the last six years, but he remains a must-stash in all fantasy formats for his high-end power stroke.
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) was seen running the bases on Friday before the series opener against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays in the Bronx. Stanton wasn't running full speed around the bases, but it's a notable step in his recovery from a strained left hamstring that he suffered almost a month ago. There is no timetable for the 34-year-old right-handed slugger's return, and he's likely to need at least a short rehab assignment in the minor leagues before rejoining the Yankees' lineup. When Stanton is able to return (likely not until August), Aaron Judge will move back to regular duties in center field, pushing Trent Grisham back to the bench as the fourth outfielder. Stanton should remain stashed in all fantasy leagues as a top-tier power option. He currently has 18 long balls and 45 RBI in 260 at-bats in 2024 while hitting .246 (64-for-260).
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) could be ready to return from the 10-day injured list shortly after next week's All-Star break and may return without going on a minor-league rehab assignment, according to manager Aaron Boone. Apparently Stanton has been recovering nicely from a left-hamstring strain that landed him on the IL and he's been doing baseball activities. Even if the 34-year-old right-handed slugger skips a rehab assignment, he's probably going to need to at least face some sort of live pitching before the Yankees throw him back into their big-league lineup. Since he's been out, Aaron Judge has been serving as the team's DH, which has given Trent Grisham more playing time in center field. Stanton continues to display high-end power when healthy, slugging 18 homers and driving in 45 in 69 games played in 2024. Keep him stashed everywhere.
