Trent Grisham Held Back By Hamstring Issue

New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham (hamstring) is currently behind schedule due to injury, according to manager Aaron Boone. The organization didn't comment on the severity of the issue, so fantasy managers will need to check back for that information. For now, Grisham is day-to-day and will just get a late start to spring training along with Giancarlo Stanton (elbow) who is also sidelined right now. When healthy, Grisham will probably be the fourth outfielder in New York. Grisham is coming off a rough 2024 season and hasn't been able to hit his weight in a few seasons. Despite that, Grisham does normally draw walks and plays above average defense. He's unlikely to be a valuable fantasy asset until he can improve at the plate.

Yankees Avoid Arbitration With Trent Grisham, JT Brubaker

The New York Yankees avoided salary arbitration with outfielder Trent Grisham and right-hander JT Brubaker (oblique) by agreeing to one-year deals on Friday. Grisham, 28, will earn $5 million in his second season in the Bronx. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter saw his fantasy stock drop considerably in pinstripes in 2024, as he was essentially the team's fourth outfielder. The former first-rounder hit a disappointing .190/.290/.385 with a .675 OPS, nine home runs, 31 RBI, one steal and 21 runs scored in 179 regular-season at-bats. Depending on what the Yankees do in free agency this offseason, Grisham could have a path to a bigger role in 2025, but at best, he'll likely be in some sort of platoon in the outfield against right-handed pitching. Grisham is mostly useful for his glove at this point in his career and isn't anything more than a bench bat in AL-only leagues.

Trent Grisham Picks Up Three Hits, Homers On Sunday

New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham had a nice day at the plate in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the division-rival Baltimore Orioles, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored. The home run was Grisham's sixth of the season in his first year in the Bronx after being acquired by the Yankees from the San Diego Padres as part of the Juan Soto deal. The 27-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder has been playing more regularly of late with Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) on the injured list, as it has allowed center fielder Aaron Judge to take over designated hitter duties more often. Despite Grisham's strong performance to close out the first half of the season on Sunday, he's still hitting just .195/.301/.389 with a .690 OPS and will return to being a fourth outfielder for the Bombers when Stanton returns to the active roster.
