New York Yankees right-hander JT Brubaker (ribs) started a minor-league rehab assignment with High-A Hudson Valley on Sunday, according to MLB.com. In his first rehab outing, Brubaker tossed three scoreless innings while giving up one hit, walking none and striking out three. Brubaker is currently on the 60-day injured list while recovering from fractured ribs. It was a nice first outing on the farm for the 31-year-old veteran, but he's likely to have a long rehab assignment and isn't expected to return to the big leagues until sometime in June. Brubaker suffered fractured ribs on Feb. 21 in spring training when he was hit by a line drive. He also missed the entire 2024 season dur to Tommy John surgery, so the Yankees aren't going to rush him back by any means. Brubaker remains off of the fantasy radar.

New York Yankees right-handed pitcher JT Brubaker (ribs) suffered three broken ribs when he attempted to avoid a comebacker during a spring training contest last weekend. Yankee manager Aaron Boone said that he is "OK" but this injury will "cost him some time." Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status throughout camp. Brubaker spent all of the 2024 campaign in the minor leagues. Across 16 2/3 innings, and held a 2.70 ERA and strong 0.96 WHIP. During the 2022 season, Brubaker logged 144 innings with the Pittsburgh Pirates and held a 469 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP. He tallied 147 punchouts and served up 54 free passes. When healthy, the 31-year-old will likely compete for a long relief role in the majors and could occasionally earn a spot start in the rotation.

New York Yankees starting pitcher JT Brubaker (back) was forced to exit early on Friday after getting hit by a comebacker on the mound. Yankees' manager Aaron Boone said that Brubaker tweaked his side while attempting to get out of the way of the line drive. The Yankees might have Brubaker rest for a few days, but this doesn't seem like a long-term issue. The right-hander hasn't pitched in the MLB since the 2022 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Brubaker appeared in eight games between four levels in the minor leagues with the Yankees last season. He figures to operate as depth in Triple-A to begin the season.UPDATE: Brubaker "tweaked his side" trying to get out of the way of a comebacker, according to manager Aaron Boone.
