No Timetable For Giancarlo Stanton To Resume Baseball Activities

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that there is no timetable for when outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (elbows) will resume baseball activities. Stanton also dealt with tennis elbow in both of his elbows last year, but it's a bit concerning this spring that he hasn't started swinging at all and may not do so for a while. Depending on when he begins ramping things up, the 35-year-old power hitter could be in danger of beginning the start of the 2025 season on the injured list. Stanton was a beast in the postseason in the Yankees' run to the World Series last fall and he was able to rebound during the regular season with a .233 batting average, 27 home runs and 72 RBI in 114 games. When healthy, he still has immense power, but the drawbacks almost outweigh the positives at this point. Stanton hasn't played in over 120 games since 2021 and isn't going to help your batting average at all.

Giancarlo Stanton Dealing With "High Level Of Pain"

According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, New York Yankee designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (elbow) is dealing with a "high level of pain" in both of his elbows. Hoch noted that the slugger has not swung a bat in three-to-four weeks and is "unsure" if he will be ready for Opening Day. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Stanton's status throughout spring training, as another setback could keep him sidelined during the start of the season. If Stanton were to miss time at the start of the season, the Yankees would likely move several players to the DH spot. Last season, the 35-year-old posted a .233/.298/.475 line with 27 home runs. He generated an elite .509 xSLG with a 20.7 percent barrel rate. Even if Stanton misses time early in the campaign, he is still worth a look later in drafts as he will still carry high power upside when he is in the lineup.

Giancarlo Stanton Currently Behind Schedule

New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (elbow) was fantastic during the postseason but is currently behind schedule at the start of spring training. The veteran slugger is currently being held back due to elbow soreness. This doesn't sound like a long-term issue, but the Yankees are also going to be cautious with their veteran slugger. The assumption is that Stanton will be fine in time for Opening Day, but more information will be revealed as time goes on. This injury might push Stanton down on some draft boards, but it's also worth noting that Stanton is coming off a fairly decent 2024 season. His days of being an All-Star slugger are probably behind him, but Stanton can still be a viable option in this Yankees lineup.
